Alito: any info from what he did and did not answer?

I just watched snippets of the hearings. I'm wondering if we can garner any information not from his answers, but merely by the questions he did and did not answer.

To me it seems that whe would answer anything he thinks is safe. That won't hurt him. And he would waffle on anything on which he might get burnt.

For example, it seems he did his best to waffle on the question of Roe v Wade. Why would he fear answering that?

ALso seems he his very evasive regarding his history at Princeton, whether he was or was not a member of CAP, whether that organization was or was not equal rights regarding women and racial minorities. WHy would he fear answering in those areas?

Why would he waffle regarding questions about Presidential powers and the abuse thereof?

What other questions did he waffle on? COnversely, what questions did he step right up and answer? Can we get and info from the patterns?
