Maria Cantwell's (automated) response about Alito - (i'm not impressed)
Dear Ms. *****

Thank you for writing to express your views on the nomination of Samuel Alito to be Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court. I appreciate your input on this critical issue.

As you may know, the President nominates individuals to serve on the United States Supreme Court and it is the constitutional responsibility of the Senate to advise and consent on the suitability of those individuals to serve in the position for which they have been nominated. While I am disappointed that President Bush did not choose one of America 's many well-qualified female jurists to replace Justice O'Connor, I look forward to the debate before us. The coming weeks and months will be critical as we learn more about the nominee. I will wait for the hearing process in the U.S. Senate before making my decision.

I take my Constitutional responsibility as a Senator to advise and consent on executive nominations extremely seriously. While I recognize the privilege of the President to select his nominees, I believe it is critical that we conduct a comprehensive evaluation of each nominee's qualifications, since Supreme Court judges are expected to impartially interpret our nation's laws during their lifetime terms. Please be assured that I am committed to making carefully considered and independent judgments on every nominee based on a thorough review of his or her records. Of course, it is vital that any lifetime appointee to the highest court in the nation possess the breadth of experience, character, and wisdom necessary to review the most significant, complex, and far-reaching legal questions of our time

Thank you again for contacting me to share your thoughts on this matter. Finally, you may be interested in signing up for my weekly update for Washington state residents. Every Monday, I provide a brief outline about my work in the Senate and issues of importance to Washington State . 4. HA - that's great
By rank (integrity, honor, dignity and character) ALL the Dems are at the top and ALL the Repubs are at the bottom.

3. yeah i should call
but i'm sort of phone-phobic so i always email. Murray and Mcdermott always send back genuine responses and Cantwell always has a form reply - this one even seems a week or two old.

She did good recently, hopefully she'll come through.

6. She has NEVER replied to my emails or any contact
I very much doubt that I will vote for her -- I'll just leave that office blank.

I will never ever vote for a DINO.

7. I told her that
if she didn't vote against Alito, the most important vote in her career, I would not vote for her again, told Murray the same thing.

8. I refuse to knock this good lady. She's far better than I expected.
I thought she might buckle. She's a stronger advocate for our basic platform than I anticipated.

I'll not participate in a buck against her. No way!!!

9. Not even if she
votes to confirm Alito?? Come on, do you disagree with the importance of that vote?
