David Gregory and The Nixonian President

Unsettled?

David brought up the Nixon parallel to Bush yesterday while talking about the Border issue. To Bush, disapproval means unsettled. Surprisingly, he then blamed the media:

(transcript)

GREGORY: Let me ask you about your leadership. In the most recent survey, your disapproval rating is now one point lower than Richard Nixon‘s before he resigned the presidency. You‘re laughing, but ...

BUSH: I'm not laughing, I just ...

GREGORY: ... why do you think that is?

BUSH: Because we're at war, and war unsettles people. We got-listen, we've got a great economy. We've added 5.2 million jobs in the last two-and-a-half years. But there's a-but people are unsettled. They don‘t look at the economy and say life is good. They know we're at war and I'm not surprised that people are unsettled because of war.

The enemy has got a powerful tool, and that is to get on your TV screen by killing innocent people, and my job is to continue to remind the people it's worth it. We're not going to retreat hastily. You know, we're not going to pull out of there before the job is done and we‘ve got a plan for victory.

GREGORY: But they're just not unsettled, sir. They disapprove of the job you‘re doing.

BUSH: That's unsettled.

1. "unsettled" is Rapist George W. Bush's term for "mentally unstable".
as in, "if you don't support me, you are not "sane". Typical tyrannical tactic. Democrats better take the congress back this fall!

5. We're unsettled...
Edited on Fri May-19-06 05:02 PM by AnneD
cause he is the Decider and he has decided he is doing a good job and we need to settle on his decision.

It is statements like this that strengthens my conviction that the only thing that will knock sense into him is impeachment and even then he will have to be drug kicking and screaming from the oval office. He is a dangerous man with a fragile mental state. We need him out of office ASAP for the good of this country and the world.

7. Over at daily kos, someone asked:
Edited on Fri May-19-06 06:32 PM by Jim Sagle
why does Bush laugh at inappropriate moments?

And with the feverish clarity of the casually dispossessed, the answer came:

He's laughing at the 70% of us who can't stand him.

He's laughing because he stole office twice and no one of any import ever said much less did anything about it.

He's laughing about the inside job he and his cronies pulled off on 9-11.

He's laughing about the dead American soldiers piled up in Iraq. He's laughing at their mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers.

He's laughing about the torture. He's laughing about the anthrax he had his junta unload on Democratic congressional leaders and disobedient journalists.

He's laughing about the counterfeit job and economic stats his filthy crew of lying functionaries injects into our media day after day. He's laughing about the trillions of dollars stolen from the treasury and given to his friends and their shell corporations.

And he's laughing about the 32 months of hell his regime has left to unleash on this nation and the world.

And best of all, he's laughing at the thought of the scarred, fouled and bloodied shambles of a globe that will be left to the rest of us.
