CNN just aired a very good segment on the retired University of Kansas professor whose personal mail was opened by DHS. It was a true glimpse into how this government is intruding upon the privacy of law-abiding citizens in the name of the 'war' on terror.

Apparently a non-propagandized segment was too much for Blitzer. He primped toward the camera and said in dramatic tones, "Keep tuned to CNN for up-to-the date information about your security."

Suddenly, this segment about abuse of our privacy rights became a segment on our security.

The psyops boys in the CNN newsroom are doing a fine job.

In your account of the CNN report I read "DHS" and immediately thought of Department of Human Services, because it's an agency with whom I frequently work and to which I often refer. Nowhere in your post is mentioned "Department of Homeland Security," which I assume is what you mean. The fact that "DHS" automatically now means this, without explanation, is somewhat chilling.

It was opened and read by the US Customs Service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security. Sorry about the confusion.

for this is perception management. These other terms usually set off allegations of conspiracy theory-perception management is no theory and your example sounds like many others used by the "shadow government" of George W. Bush for an unknown agenda that ignores reality.
