Anyone else find the Guantanamo 'Uprising' timing suspect?
Edited on Fri May-19-06 07:16 PM by spanone
On the VERY day that the headlines are:

'United Nations Panel Backs Closing Guantánamo'.
~snip~
A U.N. panel on torture called on the U.S. to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, seen in April. --

The panel's report came on the same day as American military officers detailed an hourlong melee that occurred after a group of inmates at the detention center tried to commit suicide on Thursday, and other inmates there attacked guards trying to prevent one of the men from hanging himself.~snip~

1. The whoring media is putty in their hands, so if/when we're fed
lies, how would we know one way or the other? So yes, it's suspect.

2. Yes, but I don't see how this helps the case for keeping it open.

Don't really buy the suggestion that the prisoners need to be held at this isolated facility "for their own protection."

Some of the specifics, such as the spreading of feces, remind me of the "Dirty Protest" of IRA prisoners in Dartmoor Prison in the 1980s. These aren't people who will break or mellow with time. It tells me how futile Gitmo has become.

3. I find it suspicious, but only because of the fact that it's taken this
long for something like this to happen. I'd have expected it to happen much sooner.

4. Absolutely!
There's no way a bunch of tortured, half-starved prisoners could inflict that kind of damage against Marines without help. Guantánamo is a gulag used for political gain but it still is staffed with the finest of our generation. They deserve not to be pummeled, even if their mission is unconstitutional and cowardly.
