I saw a black, unmarked helicopter hovering west of Johnstown, PA.
It was uncommonly thin and very black. The *only* possible thing, that I can think of, that's out there is a nuclear power plant, somewhere near Blairsville.

1. Do you get those "CAMP" anti-marijuana-grower operations around there?
Edited on Fri May-19-06 08:18 PM by htuttle
The couple of times I've seen 'CAMP' helicopters, they looked like black Apaches (or some other thinner chopper -- all black, though).

Not really sure this would be a productive time of year for them to look for pot patches, but maybe they're looking for patches-in-the-making out in the middle of nowhere?

But they have satalites for that. The helecoptors are just for attacking Iran. There. Doesn't that make you feel better?

4. Never call a helicopter "black and unmarked" on DU. I made
that mistake once, say "no visible markings," otherwise, you get a whole bunch of asinine posts back saying they are marked but " in a subtle way" and shit like that. I saw a fucking Blackhawk that was flat dark grey LAND thirty yards away from me that had no visible markings that would enable a person to identify it and got a bunch of stupid replies that made it sound like I was some sort of nut case. My response was that my car has a serial number on the dash, so why would I need a license plate?

Tell me about it. Make an error on a thread and you will get comments back so fast your head will spin. This place is full of know-it-alls who just love to correct.

I made the mistake of accepting what another poster said about Rolling Rock being owned by a smaller, regional company. Bada bing, bada bang, the thread fills up with research on the former owner of RR.

But I'll take 'em over freepers anyday. Better to be a know-it-all than a no-nothing redneck.

12. its not the black ones you have to watch out for
its the ones in ordinary colors that can get you. these helicopters carry a full spectrum of heavy fire power. what the FBI is doing with this shit is beyond my comprehension.

The MD-530s are similar in configuration to the MH-6 "Little Birds" used by the US Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (at one time the HRT "little birds" were also painted back, but FBI HQ ordered them repainted to a new color after all of the media hoopla about government commandos zooming around the night skies in black helicopters). The HRT also maintains agreements that allow it access to military transport aircraft for rapid deployment of its personnel and equipment.

Right in town. At the end of Church Stree, just below the high school. A lovely place. You couldn't get a corned beef sandwich if your life depended on it but a fried fish sandwhich bigger than your head, no problem. :)

52. Thanks for the update.
The place I miss most is the family farm just down the road from the pie shop that used to smoke their own meats. Their turkey breast was a real treat. Once in a great while, I'll drive through there on a trip to Johnstown. Not often, though. I usually go across 22 so I can stop at Clem's Cafe for their superb barbecue.

30. I see "black" Helicopters ALL the time when I go to the Mall.
The new mall is just opposite the Johnstown Airport and they fly Apaches or Cobras all the time out of The Johnstown Airport (I remember seeing them and looking at them and they being Attack Helicopters of I type I know, but for the life me I can not remember the type right now, I believe they were Cobras but they may have been Apaches).

Yes, the copters were ALL dark colored (i.e. "Black") but clearly were on maneuvers when they were flying.

My uncle used to be a base commander at a nuclear installation here in Irwin back in the 70's...they thought it was a nike missile base ...but it was ICBMs that they were guarding with tanks and machine guns...

Only after it was declassified did he tell us that we had nukes in our backyard...all to guard the steel mills...
