It came twenty years earlier -- a novel purporting to be a "lost gospel" of Mary Magdalene and covering much of the same gnostic/hidden goddess turf...

I think I'm due to re-read it!

2. What do you recommend for those who did not like it?
I haven't seen it yet, but that's just because I read it.

5. yeah -- it seems to be rare and out of print, alas
I'm advocating a US edition -- we need it back in print. It may be cheaper ordering through the Amazon UK site, I dunno...

4. Mary was not a Ho, the word translates as 'a woman from a city', she was

an educated woman from a nonTribal metropolitan area, apparently shunned because she had knowledge of the real world. and the Tribal elements didn't want her infecting the locals with Liberal/progressive ideas.

she was a full fledged disciple she had access to the womens groups and probably taught them Jesus teachings while they were probably put way back away from the men so they couldn't hear what was going on

6. thanks...just ordered it via interlibrary loan
hope it's better than DaVinci Code

I sorta like the 'historical' part. the 'thriller' part was as lame and contrived as any Ludlum, Coonts, Jack Higgins....you name it

8. Lucky you!
I tried our "prospector" service and it doesn't even show up on the radar. It's not available anywhere in my area. I'm keeping my eyes peeled at the thrift shop since you never know what can pop up there.
