Why is this man laughing?
Edited on Fri May-19-06 11:02 PM by Jim Sagle
Check this clip at http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/05/19.html#a8349 and judge for yourself.

To see the thing in the White House guffaw at his 29% approval rating is to be fearful and baffled, since no normal politician or even normal human being would react that way to such sweeping disapproval. So I had to wonder why.

And with the feverish clarity that comes to the casually dispossessed, the answer came:

He's laughing at the 70% of us who can't stand him.

He's laughing because he stole office twice and no one of any import ever said much less did anything about it.

He's laughing about the inside job he and his cronies pulled off on 9-11.

He's laughing about the dead American soldiers piled up in Iraq. He's laughing at their mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers.

He's laughing about the torture. He's laughing about the anthrax he had his junta unload on Democratic congressional leaders and disobedient journalists.

He's laughing about the counterfeit job and economic stats his filthy crew of lying functionaries injects into our media day after day. He's laughing about the trillions of dollars stolen from the treasury and given to his friends and their shell corporations.

And he's laughing about the 32 months of hell his regime has left to unleash on this nation and the world.

And best of all, he's laughing at the thought of the scarred, fouled and bloodied shambles of a globe that will be left to the rest of us.

But you could well be right.

3. He may be laughing on camera but
I guarantee you he ain't laughing at night when he wakes up in a cold sweat thinkin about how much he is disliked. I wouldn't be surprised if he is constantly medicated to keep him from a public breakdown. Remember this is a spoiled mama's biy who for his entire life has been sheltered from the consequences of his fuckups. If he's allowed to see these polls he obsessing over them.

22. What you are describing is how a normal person would react.
And perhaps you are assuming that he has a conscience.
I have yet to see any proof that he does.

He's made it to the very top twice, he never deserved it, a lot of people can't stand him and nothing will happen to him other than he will get a huge pension and lots of speaker fees for the rest of his life

25. His reactions are so consistently inappropriate that there is
definitely some wiring loose somewhere. The match between context, language, and facial expressions are far too off kilter to be anything other than misfiring neurons -- it's genetic.

9. The people are unsettled because of war?
You know, he's got a point. My Victory Garden is doing badly in the heat down here, and we ran out of gas and sugar a week ago. I'm sure my next door neighbor's a terrorist (he's got a radio tower on his roof) and every time I turn on the news it's non-stop about those goddamn Islamofascists running amok everywhere and how we need to be vigilant.

I'm wearing last year's fashions because I won't go into town anymore -- you never know when a bomb might go off. Why, just last week they blew up WalMart (which some see as a blessing) and our Sonic...not that anyone could afford those places anymore. Thankfully I was able to sew myself a summer dress from the curtains; we keep the windows open all day anyway since the utilities can't provide electricity more than an hour a day. I spend most of the day sweeping and doing laundry by hand and hoping it rains again before we run out of fresh water. My husband sits on the front porch with his gun most of the time, just watching everybody else, and won't talk to anyone. I think he's in worse shape than me.

Yes indeed, war-time here is very unsettling.

10. He's laughing because he's an idiot, that's all.
Edited on Fri May-19-06 11:44 PM by Marr
He's laughing because somewhere inside that peanut-sized piece of substance-abused, fratboy grey matter that passes for his brain, he recognizes a conflict, and his psyche spasms in response.

See, his yes-men tell him that everyone loves him. Oh sure, there are a few wackos on the fringe who don't like him, they say, and they show up outside his bus window sometimes. But he's been assured constantly that practically everyone else adores him. Hell, even god is on his side.

So when a number like pierces the bubble, with no immediate soothing disclaimer or ego stroking, he jerks a bit inside. He's not smart enough to realize it, of course- but that's what his little brain is doing. Convulsing.

You are so right about his lovey dovey yes men. Don't forget his female cadre of supporters, Laura, Condi, Karen and Harriet. They never let bad news get into his mind.

16. Unsettled
It means to be "uneasy" or disturbed about a situation. Bush latches on to a word or phrase and uses it over and over. "Unsettled" must be his word of the week. It is certainly an understatement! We are angry and disgusted!

17. This kind of idiotic chimp stuff convinces me that Rove is no longer..
running the chimp PR effort. There has been a string of disastrous events and appearances by * over the past year or so, contemporaneous with Fitzgerald's investigation.

Katrina, for example. I cannot believe that Rove, if fully on the job, would have allowed all that idiotic PR stuff to happen. No, Rove has been preoccupied with saving his ass.

I say he should be the subject of testing of this new weapon just sent to Iraq. The laser that will cause blindness (temporary of course) in Iraqie civilians who don't understand "Stop or I'll shoot" and then let's see how he understands what it is like to be "unsettled."

Bush is not a well man, however he is expressing GOP party line. He is what some in South America call a neo-liberal. If it were not for the war in Iraq not as many Americans would question him. If it were not for the war time economy allowing for Corporate control with unaccountable theft the illusion of a good economy would not be possible. I am sure George Junior understands this only because Poppy explained it to him. Then there are those of us who really thought we had a Bill of Rights and now know that was also an illusion.

Our Corporate masters own us we are either slaves to consumption or slaves to the State depending on which variation is set up where you live. I no longer distinguish between a Corporation that owns a State, or a State that owns a corporation.

This is one of the few times this slimy scum was close to honest in his contempt of any system of morality. Maybe in a couple years they will retire him so he can return to drinking and fishing in his lake.

27. Busholini is a simple minded
Silverspoon Sociopath.

If the Corp. Media that was complicit in the Illegal Invasion of Iraq would stop televising anything negative about Iraq then the American people would be "settled".

It has taken a few years but millions that didn't see now see that Busholini is a freakin' arrogant Asshole.
