She strode onto the Late Show confidently, her face a more narrow carbon copy of her father's. She has the same arrogant mannerisms, the same grim set to the mouth, the identical habit of maintaining a completely expressionless face while the eyes dart around to assess who is "with us and who is against us."

And Mary Cheney has her father's penchant for insisting on being smart and All-American even when dead wrong and dangerous and self-centered.

From her answers to Dave's smooth, well-calculated questions, I assume I am to believe that there is nothing wrong with supporting a party full of people who hate you. There is no moral commandment or Constitutional mandate to stand up to people who build their political and religious careers by whipping up a frenzy against your kind.

How nice of Ms. Cheney to sum it all up for us so tidily. Of course, she has more money than Santa Claus now, she's set for life. Must be nice to understand and have compassion for your fellow gay and lesbian Americans.

We understand that your daddy will carry out your wishes if he outlives you. You'll die with the partner of your choice, or you'll receive benefits shoud your partner die first. Yeah, we all know your Daddy can suck a country dry and shoot people in the face and get away with it all, so no doubt your needs as a lesbian woman wil be met. Money and power and comfort are so sweet, aren't they?

That power and affluence surround you like an aura, Mary. But it's not an attractive one. It's the aura of the person who says. "I've got mine. Fuck the rest of you." There is nothing ethereal or divine or patriotic in that. Your demeanor and self-justification are as old and common as field weeds.

So don't tell me you let the Republicans demonize you, you let them call you deviant, you let Jerry Falwell blame you for 9/11, you let Repuke candidates all over America win votes by crying out for an end to any rights you might have as a gay person, you went along with all of this because in 2004, as Cheney's campaign manager, you thought his ticket would protect America better?

Sure. Well. Here's a big clue. If they could protect us, the WTC would still be standing, our borders and ports would be secure, millions of people would not have suffered along our Gulf Coast, and our National Guard would be home in their states, doing the jobs they were created to do.

For once in a Repuke's life, can't you just admit the truth? You like that power, Mary. I can see it in your eyes. You're safe. Must be nice.

But the rest of the gay and lesbian community is not safe, not secure and neither is our nation as a whole.

There's absolutely no point in discussing gay marriage, abortion, national healthcare until this regime is safely out of office.

They can never just do something for the sake of doing it. Her phoney 'I'm doing this because of that nasty Kerry', won't impress many people.
