It's time to take back the word 'liberal'!
This does not mean something demonic, no, liberal means somebody believing the good welfare of the common people. Liberal means that the liberal government cares for those that are disadvantaged to perform in the so-called conservative atmosphere. To be a liberal is to obey the laws and Constitution of the United States and to always defend her from enemies, foreign and domestic.
To be a liberal is to be a patriot. To be liberal is to ask all forms of the American government if a war is okay before engaging in that and not for greedy reasons. What was that war for? As we see middle America struggle with the ever increase in gas prices, yet no protest is sounded, do you think this will last? There are some tough questions on the horizion and I do hope the Democrats have some good answers because, sofar, the Rebublicans have the same old answers.

1. It's past time!!
Our LIBERAL values are our strength.

It's interesting that the word liberal has been demonized but the word liberty has not, yet both are based on the same root word. Ask most republicans if they value liberty & they will say yes. Many people fear being labeled liberal without full understanding of liberal values.

Here's my (incomplete) list:

Protecting civil liberties
Livable wages for honest work
Eliminate poverty
Fair taxes across all tax brackets
Education for all, K through college
Environmental care
Healthcare for all
Safe work enviroment
40 hour work week; overtime
Food & water safety
Product safety
Freedom of & from religion
Choice for women
Equality for all genders, races, sexual orientation, religions

That "A Day in the Life of Joe Conservative" is an excellent summary of liberal values with a great point made at the end!

2. Being a liberal means creating peace.
You're right. How could we ever let those phoneys and bullies bush us into a corner. I think I'll let that Freudian spelling stay. Huh, don't Bush me around.

The only thing these people have on their side is the megaphone.

But your post spurred me to realize that being a liberal means we never get to a point where we have to think in military terms. Not on our own. And in fact, the days of invading are over. So as long as we have decent foreign relations, I don't foresee invasion. Or, I didn't until Bush came along.

I feel like I'm just typing today. Nothing is coming out the way I feel it.

Don't Bush me around! Haha.

I think it'll catch on. Singing off by saying that I'm a liberal and proud of it!

4. We've been taking it back...liberal versus "librul" from the english only
crowd. We know what a LIB-ER-AL is, and most of us around here are proud to call ourselves that. We want liberty and justice for all, decent lives for ALL Americans, and we strive to do it all as environmentally cleanly and openly as we possibly can. Then there is the LIB-RUHL, which is the straw man the RW blabbermouths have created. You know, the wimpy college professor type who eats granola and wears Berkinstocks and wants to give free Cadillacs to non-white women on welfare and starve hard working white men to death doing it.

6. General Clark proudly called himself a liberal in 2003
"I am a liberal. We live in a liberal democracy.

That's what we created in this country. That's in
our Constitution. ... I think we should be very clear
on this. You know, this country was founded on the
principals of the Enlightenment. It was the idea that
people could talk, reason, have dialogue, discuss the
issues. It wasn't founded on the idea that someone
would get stuck by a divine inspiration and know
everything right from wrong. I mean, people who
founded this country had religion, they had strong
beliefs, but they believed in reason, in dialogue, in
civil discourse. We can't lose that in this country.
We've got to get it back."
Wes Clark - September 5, 2003
