Israel tested nuke in 1979

ISRAEL and South Africa carried out a nuclear test on an offshore platform in the northern Antarctic in 1979, according to a newly disclosed US document, Yediot Aharonot newspaper said.

The document, released at the request of the security studies centre at Georgetown University in Washington, says a mystery explosion detected on September 22, 1979 by a US satellite was a nuclear test.

It's only taken 27 years for it to be released. What was the big secret ? :)

To have tested nuclear weapons yet voluntarily not develop a nuclear arsenal.

the U.S. has denied that it was a nuclear explosion. I am still a skeptic.

I believe Israel was provided with sophisticated nukes already in service elsewhere and that the South Africa nuke thing was/is a cover up.

They were deceived then, and the charade had to continue because Israel would "never ever lie".
