19. I see the need for all people. We may have financial opportunity that

may benefit their current situation. They have determination and the willingness to be a stranger in a strange land, to be the political target of xenophobes and those who would turn their plight into a racial issue and the strength of character to take abuse from those who would look down upon them in an effort to provide for their children and their families. I don't envy their situation, but I admire their courage.

Immigrants pay sales tax. They send their children to school, which allows us to educate generations of people who will in turn give back to the country that provided opportunity when there was perhaps none to be found in their mother country. They provide rich and beautiful cultures and languages that enrich our "American" culture. They share their customs and traditions and religions with their new country and inspire those of us who have never faced the odds that many immigrants experience to be strong and thankful for our own luxuries and blessings we have.
