We need MORE immigrants like Steven |
|
He is a South African who moved to South Carolina two years ago with his American wife. My Bushbot sister has worked side by side with him for a year. I have argued with her for years about the Shit her beloved Republicans have brought down on America and the World. To No Avail. Finally gave up even talking politics when she told me she thought Sean Hannity was "cute."
180. She has turned the corner. She told me tonight that the NEWS is nothing but Lies and Distraction. Her new friend from South Africa has informed her what the World Sees.
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!
One down...

1. Yes there are not enough Stevens. Glad this one got through |
|
One by one.
And once their eyes are open it is darn difficult for BushCo to get them closed again.

It makes me feel awful that I could not get through to her. But HOORRAYYY!! Some one finally DID!
I listened to her tell me what he told her. It sounded exactly like some of my *ahem* previous speeches to her. I guess it took someone OUTSIDE to rattle her.
Let there be LIGHT!!!!! However it comes!!!!!

3. If Steven isn't booked, I have a pair of in-laws he should speak to. |
|
Oh wait. Before they will take anyone's opinions seriusly, they have to be a "Christian." Otherwise, they are "misguided." :eyes:

8. We also need more Americans like Jaime Martinez.... |
|
... Who works two jobs supporting his wife and child, putting money away for their 2 year old son to go to college and do better than his parents.
Perfect embodiments of the American Dream.

Exactly WHY do we need Steven, or any other immigrant for that matter?
Seems they're the ones that need us.

17. Okay. It's like this. |

For purely personal reasons I am happy this particular immigrant explained to my sister that our Media is GOVERNMENT PROPOGANDA AND DISINFORMATION AND KEEPS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN THE DARK ABOUT WORLD POLITICS INCLUDING THE ILLEGAL WAR IN IRAQ, INCLUDING THE TORTURING OF IRAQI CITIZENS AND MURDER OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
If You don't think that matters, well. Good luck. Maybe You need a South African servant to serve your afternoon Earl Grey.

Seems the immigrants need a better life in THEIR HOME country. America will get along just fine without a flood of immigrants.

19. I see the need for all people. We may have financial opportunity that |
|
may benefit their current situation. They have determination and the willingness to be a stranger in a strange land, to be the political target of xenophobes and those who would turn their plight into a racial issue and the strength of character to take abuse from those who would look down upon them in an effort to provide for their children and their families. I don't envy their situation, but I admire their courage.
Immigrants pay sales tax. They send their children to school, which allows us to educate generations of people who will in turn give back to the country that provided opportunity when there was perhaps none to be found in their mother country. They provide rich and beautiful cultures and languages that enrich our "American" culture. They share their customs and traditions and religions with their new country and inspire those of us who have never faced the odds that many immigrants experience to be strong and thankful for our own luxuries and blessings we have.

22. Well, the Native Americans didn't want Europeans here, either, |
|
but they got us. I'm not really sure where we're headed with this. Define "needs." There are lots of things we have in in this world, but we don't really need. i-Pods, super-embellished hubcaps, refrigrators that have televisions. I wouldn't lump human beings into this category.
