6. from nola.com
Tracie Washington, an attorney representing ACORN and the Advancement Project, who was monitoring the counting of absentee ballots, said she’s concerned that there has been an increase in the number of ballots that were rejected for improper witnessing of the voter’s signature.

Absentee ballots have to be witnessed by two people or signed in front of a notary public. Washington said about 800 were rejected Saturday for not complying with that requirement, compared to less than 600 in April.

“It is still a very foreign confusing process for the voter, in light of the fact that in every other election, 95 percent of those who voted absentee this time voted in person on election day,” Washington said. “These people go through the process of making a request for a ballot, signing a displaced voter affidavit, getting their ballot in the mail, getting it faxed in, doing the hokey-pokey and turning yourself around,” she said.

8. nola.com has been incorrect all evening for some reason
they have had Nagin ahead when he clearly was not based on both the wwltv coverage and the SoS site, it is weird.

3. I never get these election-results things....
... I coulda sworn every post in the other thread said Lanriedu (or whatever) was ahead....

Same happened to me with that race for Delay's seat - I couldn't follow any of the up-to-the-minute results talk...

Sigh.

15. Ha. Do you care who wins? For some reason, I am rooting for
Nagin. I like his fire. I think he would be screaming at Washington. Mary, to me, is an ineffective whiner - maybe her brother is too.

17. I honestly don't know who would be best, I have read both good
and not so good on both of them. I remember Nagin almost sobbing asking for help and I remember Landrieu going out in a rescue boat, hands on. It looks like NO residents are split on who to support like I am, lol.

19. Nagin hid in a hotel for the entire week after Katrina.
Switched from Repub to Democrat in order to win NO the first time. He is weak and ineffectual. But it looks like he won. Races in the last few years sure do seem to turn around at the last minute, don't they?
