Dixie Chick: "I Don't Feel He is Owed ANY RESPECT WHATSOEVER" (Time)

"I apologized for disrespecting the office of the President. But I don't feel that way anymore. I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever," Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines tells TIME's music critic Josh Tyrangiel, of her remark to a London audience in 2003: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." TIME's cover story, "Radical Chicks," hits newsstands Monday, May 22nd.

57. Buy it!
It's EXCELLENT! Much better than their last, and just as good as "Fly" and "Wide Open Spaces!" I woke up the last two mornings with songs from "Taking The Long Way" in my head. Very enjoyable.

Nice to see it's doing so well on iTunes and on Amazon.

11. Yes, but when you're a right winger
Everyone is supposed to agree with you and if anyone questions the government or the president in this so-called war on terror(makes the war on drugs seem tame- oh how I long for the Cold War!) Jesus! What is it gonna take for this country to hit the streets like the kids in France and the immigrant marches!???

and 2) there is a play on words with "Radical Chic."

I probably couldn't resist going with the obvious either, if I were designing the cover.

7. I to am ashamed that Bush is the President.
Strategically speaking, the Chicks should really should leave Country. They are recieving very little airtime from Country radio. There is still much contempt for them within the Country Community. They should sign with a mainstream (rock/alternative) label. At least they would get more airtime. Also, their real fans will follow them where ever they go.

I think it was last week, when I had TV reception, (nocable)

This president and his lunatic fringe friends at the Networks have ushered us backward by at least 50 years. Bush is fucking delusional, he and his wife don't beleive in scientific number like polls, and stuff like that.

Good for them! I hope they sell even more albums since they took their stand.
Bush needs to go on trial at the Hague, I with you there, but for starters I just pray we can get them the hell out of office!

You know, "Radical Chicks" like in "Radical Chic". And radical chic can be quite anything really, from clothes to literature to lifestyle, while not necessarily radical in itself.

Probably one of the editors just thought that he was a genius with, err, puns. And bad puns, if I might say so. Chick, chic, ha ha.

33. I hate country music, but theirs is good
It is really crossover pop, but the songwriting is especially strong, and I thought so before the flap - before 911, etc., and all the junk. It overcomes a dislike of country in general for me, anyway. Might be worth a try.

Also country has become more mainstream, so it may not be so that country music fans are overwhelmingly right wing.

when the controversy first hit, the tour they had right after set a record for first day ticket sales. I believe that they sold out every date.

The album they had out at the time ended up selling more than their first two albums combined. So thanks to reactionary country music fans for making these women very, very wealthy.

Please, country fans, keep boycotting them. They are crying all the way to the bank.

So they really can afford to take chances and experiment with rock and pop cross-over formats and such.

I have a feeling they felt this way all along.. it was amazing they didn't cave completely after all that disgusting Freeper behavior. They were enlightened quite early on. I'm listening to the CD right now at AOL's full album listening party. It is amazing! I have it on order.

I'm glad in this case that the reviews have been so good. Just to see the support. The only review that wasn't great was from the NY Post - he obviously didn't want to give the CD a good review. No surprise. Comparing it with Faith and Shania?? I like both, but they have never made such a classy CD. And then the Post reviewer says "Not Ready To Make Nice" is too much about her - but it was MADE about her!
