Two can play the immigration game---I'm moving south for
my retirement, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, or Mexico. Great climate, inexpensive, less polluted, No repubs, etc.

recreating a plantation economy. I'd avoid.

2. I'm not so sure about the less polluted part, either.
You made a rather broad brush statement that really varies tremendously.

3. mexico is extremely dangerous,800 missing women in juarez and 5000 missing
adults.. the missing women are all very young.. the refuse any help from the usa to investigate.. mexico is a sewer.

i lived in el paso and the migrants are actually refugees of a, 'morally bankrupt and democratically irretrievable' ...that is a quote from the UN... country.

and now they are luring our children and citizens there by legalizing cocaine and herion...

10. One reason many Mexicans come here w/o documents
They may also be fleeing rampant crime. Economic refugees, I say.

12. I feel a hell of a lot safer in Mexico than in the US.
In fact, I quite literally heave a sigh of relief each time I cross over the river on the way south.

I don't have comparative crime statistics handy, but I suspect there is not a lot of difference between the two countries. Mexico City can be pretty wild sometimes, but then, so can just about any huge city.

11. So mistaken and hateful on so many levels.
Yes, there are hundreds of women murdered or missing in Juarez. The United States also has its horror stories about mass murderers. You know, Ted Bundy, Green River Killer, the Nightstalker, etc.

"They refuse any help from the usa to investigate." Excuse me, it's a different country! I know some Americans think it is their God-given right to send the FBI wherever they feel like it, but governments of other countries may feel differently.

"Mexico is a sewer." What an idiotic statement. I suppose you know this from looking across the Rio Grande at Juarez. Well, I've spent a lot of time in Mexico, and while there are some places that smell like sewers, the country is hardly a "sewer." In fact, I wonder why I waste my time responding to such tripe. I think that comment reveals more about the poster than about Mexico.

Please source that UN quote. It sounds like it could have come from the days of the PRI, if it's even real.

"And now they are luring our children and citizens there by legalizing cocaine and heroin." Wow! Okay, first of all, that bill would have decriminalized the possession of small amounts of drugs. Second, President Fox killed it. Third, the bill was not about "luring our children" to Mexico; it was about more effectively dealing with Mexico's domestic drug problem (a result of being used as a pipeline for drugs going to the insatiable US). Finally, I would suggest you look somewhere other than Fox News for your perspectives on these issues.

4. The Boquete region of Panama is popular these days
Bocas del Toro too, but it sounds like it's being "gentrified" for the tourista-retirees..

I grew up in Panama (on an AF base) and it kind of bothers me to see rich anglos moving there, but Panama is a gorgeous place with HOT HOT HOT temps, and a lot more scenery that our desert southwest or southeast..and cheaper living costs..

The thing I don't know about is what happens when someone moves there and then gets sick.. That could be a problem..

6. Quepos, Costa Rica
I would suggest that you look there. Quepos borders Manual Antonio National Park and the country has done a lot to protect natural resources. Quepos is very safe, and quite progressive - rainbow flags at many establishments. It is still a developing area that is a great place to get in now, before the american developers drive up costs considerably. I believe that Costa Rica is also the only central/south american country with a constitutional equal protection clause for gays and lesbians. Maybe the US could learn something from Costa Rica.

8. Don't bet on the "Less Polluted" Part...
in Mexico. The cities are WAY more polluted than here and the non-polluted parts or not any less polluted than here.

It costs money to meet enviromental standards, even though they are a lot less stringent than out own. That money is put to much better use in politicians Swiss Bank Accounts.
