I read that as "Benny Hill robbing poor people again"
:rofl::rofl:
I thought, "my god! NO! Not Benny Hill!"
My brother and I would stay up late on Saturday nights when I was a kid to get a glimpse of what we considered to be the most risque show on t.v. Yowza! :)

4. OMG- Hinn is bad, but did you ever hear of Robert Tilton?
http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/religion/televangelists/robert-tilton/

and his appeal to viewers to "make a $1,000 vow" to show how much you love the Lord! That's right-- mail him $1,000... Praise Jesus!

7. Tilton's a freak
I like it when he gets on all fours and crawls around a table littered with envelopes containing $20s, $50s and $100s, speaking in tongues ("soh-DAN-doh del-bolla-soya!") and pleading for MORE MONEY!

The sheeple who send him cash almost... almost deserve to be ripped off. As for Tilton, he deserves to be run over by a bus.

10. Cardinal Milfington channels Tilton
I loved Morning Sedition's take-off on these nuts.
I swear that Jim Earl channels Tilton when he does his Cardinal Milfington routine.

9. This passage is very telling of the underlying psychology:
And if she is not healed?

“If it happen, it happen. We know Benny Hinn can’t make anything happen—it is God,” said Ferdinand, who was accompanied by members of Trincity Family Church.

So, as it turns out, if our little miracle worker Hinn actually heals someone, then it is by the grace of God that he should be some sort of conduit of benevolence. But, if he fails, then...uhhh...I guess God was taking a nap or something.

It's the refusal to entertain the proposition that either a) God does not want you to get better or b) God simply does not exist or c) This man is a complete and utter fraud of the worst kind who preys on the faith of impoverished, the uneducated and the ill for his own material benefit.

If there is a hell, I can rest assured there is a special place for people like Hinn and his ilk.

22. Religion has always been.........
the perfect con. Is there anything else in the world that so many people will unfailingly believe in without one shred of evidence? Nothing. The perfect con for the masses and there are way too many "men of god" in this world pulling it. Most aren't as transparent as Hinn though.

12. my favorite part is how
there is a 'separate tent' set up for the afflicted and it is 300metres+ from the stage...and Hinn doesn't even go there...he sends his flunkies...he would not dare 'heal' someone who is really ill.

17. Hinn's ministry put all the hospitals in the DFW area out of business
His miraculous healing powers simply cured all the ailing that resided in those secular buildings. The staff had to go home; they had nothing left to do.

Actually he's got an office in the Williams Square Towers in Las Colinas ($$$) Texas (just outside of Dallas). I worked on the floor below his two (2) floors. High dollar digs - cha ching!

I'm an ex-fundy in a wheelchair, so I take a very cynical view of these kinds of snake-oil salesmen.

20. I can't believe that people still give that asshole the time of day!
These charlatans are on the lowest level of the food chain but who actually BELIEVES in these guys? I know some people are hurting inside and need a crutch from time to time but........ BENNY FREAKING HINN! :wtf: How many TV specials have been aired about that snake-oil salesman showing what a crook he is? Yet some people are ignorant enough to give him money? :eyes: This is what Hinn counts on, that people are hurting and gullible enough to swallow his line of crap.

These people are candidates for the Darwin award.

24. Why do people call this robbery?
Edited on Sun May-21-06 05:17 PM by BlooInBloo
I see nothing but credulous folks who don't care in the least about things like evidence or rationality willingly giving up their belief and their money.

The credulous WILLINGLY give up their money.

WILLINGLY

WILLINGLY

WILLINGLY

Do the credulous EVER have to take ANY responsibility for their actions? Any at all? Even a little? Just a smidge?

Or is it ALWAYS the other's guy's COMPLETE fault?

EDIT: Corrected typo, added final question.

26. I'd call it fraud.
There was a racket to keep boys out of the draft. Realizing about half of conscriptees are rejected, the grifters would charge a fee. If you got rejected, they kept the money. It's taking advantage of desperate people.

25. Sadly, my family is brainwashed by them.
All of my family save one brother in law are totally brainwashed by Jesus TV.

I've got family members who engage in "sacrificial giving",,,they give 25% of their income to these crooks. You try to reason with them, you can't. All of them are convinced that Jesus is going to rapture them in a week or 2. They won't go to school to better themselves. Every time things get worse, they get deeper into bible studies. And, sadly they all vote Republican...

My dad lost two of his fingers in an industrial accident. His sister repeatedly got on him that his faith wasn't deep enough, if it was his fingers would have regenerated...
