Could someone start a thread when there's an answer for the TruthOut mess?

I've been scanning the threads since the original story broke. There's a whole bunch of back and forth snarky malarkey. I don't really feel like digging through all that crap. Whenever we do have an answer, could we post it big and obvious, in a way that can't be missed? Thanks.

5. The ideas that there is one answer is silly, IMO

It appears that the writer or his sources lied, the editor didn't do his job, and the senior editor, who issued the lamest partial apology I've ever read, should be ashamed of himself.

But that's only my opinion. If you're looking for 'received wisdom' I suggest you go to church/temple/mosque.

Look, the whole situation pisses me off. I was on Steve Gilliard's old board many years ago, Netslaves. That place had built up a bit of credibility over the years only to see it get blown away by stupid crap just like this. Gilliard is a good writer and passionate but lacks a certain discipline, a flaw that can get him into exceedingly stupid situations. It looks like Will Pitt has the same problem. I've been lurking here for ages, enjoyed reading his material. I considered TruthOut to be a decent alternative news site -- if I saw a crazy claim, I'd use them as one of my fact check sites, just to make sure I'm not getting fooled by a crank.

The only thing I asked for here is that if/when any facts develop in this case, facts helping to resolve things, could someone please make it obvious? Right now we've got all these monolithic threads and if there are any developments hidden within, good luck sifting through everything to find 'em.

12. Seems to me, it's already over

Truthout's declared a sort of odd holding pattern -- we stand by our story, but of course no one can know if we've got the goods unless Fitz says Rove is indicted, which could happen before lunch, next month, or never. So, the answer is no answer. Stalemate.
