1. Now, he is comparing himself to Harry Truman! |
|
First he was Abraham Lincon, then he was Winston Churchill, then he was Jesus. Please, someone put this man in a rubber room.

4. Wouldn't you enjoy hearing * expound on his vast knowledge of history? |
|
* is the most ignorant and uncurious man to ever occupy the White House (and that is saying something), and he has the temerity to discuss what historians will think of him? Guess what, George - you will be remembered as not just the worst president in U.S. history, but one of the worst human beings in U.S. history.

I'm sorry but I don't see it. Yes it's a war for those in Iraq and their families, but for most of us nothing is that different. If it were a real war we all would be asked to sacrifice, like all great war presidents have asked.
I'm sorry but Bush's whole administration has been a dismal failure. Truman had some definite highs--The Marshall Plan, Berlin Airlift, Desegregation of armed services, The first civil rights program in modern history, the first proposal of Medicare (things that came to pass in later years). Everything Bush has touched has turned to dust. His ranking will equal that of Buchanan in my opinion. But you can't blame Bush's aides for trying to make this argument.

6. He is now a long suffering saint, we are not bright enough to appreciate |
|
his genius.
Interesting, he finally acknowledges that the poll numbers are low, but blames it on the war. And that eventually we will all come to our senses and realize that he did the right thing. And then he will take his rightful place on Mt Rushmore.
This man has a very tight delusional system. Only a little reality gets in, and when it does he incorporates it into his delusional system.

picture Dubya doing what Carter has done.
I see him instead as a board-of-directors fake CEO-type, reaping the largesse of the corporations who kept him in power this long.
Private jets, privileged living, and right back to the booze.

14. This is just so insulting to Truman |
|
My father, a very proud Democrat all his life, is spinning in his grave over this. He loved Harry Truman. When Truman died, he made us all stand in the cold for hours in front of the Truman Library to wait in line to walk by his casket and pay our respects.
When el pretzeldente dies, people are going to want to spit on his grave.

"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
Too many people remember Elementary School History... where if a President did something wrong, it isn't mentioned.
So all Presidents look good... because the bad isn't mentioned.

HOW can the historical perspective of Bush EVER rise to the level of Truman or anybody near the top of the list as the years pass? Frankly, I see him more towards the bottom. One of my friends thinks that he stands a good chance of actually displacing Harding as the WORST.....PRESIDENT......EVER. I actually don't think all that bad of other GOP Presidents in recent history anymore because, at least, they didn't act quite as "insane" as Bush II sounds. The guy can't run a business let alone the country! It is a sad day when some of us would rather have Nixon, Reagan, OR Bush I back in charge of our country than Bush II. Bush's scandals actually make Watergate, Iran-Contra, etc. look like "petty" crimes.

- Bush has an incredibly skewed and false view of history - Didn't Ann Coulter write a book praising McCarthy and trashing Truman?
George W. Bush has forgotten that Harry Truman didn't by any means start WWII or Korea. You don't get to be a war-time president if the war is your fault. If Bush wants to start calling himself a war-time President he's probably alot more like Nixon or McKinley or for fairness sake Grant, who probably killed about as many people as the other two, not too mention Westward Expansion, see Polk. Bush is a damned fool. I have a feeling he'll be seeing Lucifer some day, God help us all.

32. I doubt it.. Harry Truman was interested in the public's welfare |
|
and truly inherited the war ... He was not even in the loop about the bomb... Truman actually had a national healthcare plan, but Korea got in the way..
Th eBush legacy will not improve with age.. If anything, I think more ugly truths will emerge.. I think he will have the dubious distinction of having been the WORST president we ever had.
