the word conservative is so repulsive to me now
when I hear someone say they are conservative, I think of horrible wars, out of sight deficits, incredible corruption, bigotry, cruelity.

leaves such a bad taste in your mouth.

1. is that a real pic in your sig?
and, conservative has always been a distasteful word for me since Reagan came along. If you're conservative with money, or conservative in how much you drink or how you drive... that's fine. But, with politics, Reagan has spoiled the word

He's used to getting all the lovin'. Oh, he can overlook the occasional indiscretion or two. God knows Georgie can't be expected to lay off the bald men in his life. But Joe knows who's Georgie's coming home to in the end.

I just made myself sick, I think

5. I have been arguing in this forum for years
That we don't call them conservatives. What is conservative about the highest deficit in history?
What is conservative about big government spying on its citizens?
What is conservative about polluting the planet?
I could go on and on but the point is that there is nothing conservative about destroying our Democracy or the Republic in which we currently live. Fascist, maybe but definitely NOT conservative.

7. But all those things you describe... that IS conservatism in America today
Why let them dodge this fact?

If there was ever anything worthwhile about conservatism, it's a thing of the past. Dead and buried.

8. Watch out or somebody will chastise you for failing to be reverent
towards the wise and noble "old-school conserative". Unlike the evil neocons who hijacked the Republican Party, "old-school conservatives" fought for worthy causes like dismantling New Deal programs and escalating the arms race with the Soviet Union.
