As many of you know, it's a rare thing for me to post something as negative as the rant I put out last week. It's not as if we don't know what's wrong with this administration, its lackeys in Congress, or its shills in the corporate press. It's not as though we don't understand how wrong-headed those 29% of the American public are in swallowing their lies.
We know all of this. We see LBN stories every day of the next bad thing this Congress-critter, or that agency, is up to. We stare in the face of horrible truths and frightening conjectures day in and day out every time we sign on to DU.
Not to say that those who post these things aren't performing a valuable service. We need to know these things.
But I like to think I have another task here. To remind us why we fight, and what it is in us all that makes us different from them. To shed some light on the things that are important to us, and to give us all a little boost from time to time.
It's not easy doing what we do, subjecting ourselves to daily horrors in the name of justice and life. We pay for it in a thousand little ways--in depression, in the arguments we have with co-workers, neighbors, relatives, and family members. Just trying to get people to realize what it is we face. We pay for it in frustration and heartbreak, and often wonder why we even bother.
I know why we bother. As do we all. But I feel it's my duty I try to remind us of these things...to accentuate the positive. There's enough negative here to go around.
I just want to share...
