My response to the idiotic RW talking point about privacy
Shuts them up good.

Had a RW Bushbot, Limpballs "Dildo-head" co-worker get into it with me the other day about NSA spying, wire-taps, phone records, etc. Oh yeah, we have some rather interesting conversations.

Anyway, he threw out the latest RW talking point I've heard bandied about by hate radio, Faux News, and our government. He said something similar to; "It's no big deal, if you've ever bought anything on line, or over the phone with your credit card, those companies collect your data, and may even sell it to other companies. You've already given up privacy, that info is available if someone wants it, what's the big deal"?

My response was two-fold, but the second part really shut him up. I said; "I don't like the fact that companies collect my purchase info and may make a profit from it, but remember this...Flowers.com does not have millions of enforcement officers and the power of the Justice Department behind it, and it's doubtful that agents from Ebay would have the ability to kick down my door at night".

He stammered and did the "Bush-bot Shuffle". You know, the "Umm, Errr, Duh, Ahh, Umm" thing our pretzledent is famous for.

1. Those companies do NOT
keep track of who you talk to, when, how often and for how long.

2. And I am sure, he would have NO problem with President Hillary
having all his phone information. He is not a terrorist so he has nothing to worry about right.

3. It's the typical RW Strawman/Apples and Oranges argument
This argument must really be a conundrum for them. I mean, they've made their bones by portraying the government as evil, as something that needs to be "drowned in a bath-tub", and yet, they see nothing wrong with surrendering privacy to the government.

How they get their heads around that argument, I don't know.

Bottom line is this. Godiva Chocolates.com having my info is not the same as the NSA having my info.

That's the problem with RW Strawman arguments. They're easy to set-up and burn down, but then all you're left with is a scorched earth.

5. I wonder if Flowers.com can rifle through our drawers, go through
Edited on Mon May-22-06 08:46 AM by in_cog_ni_to
our closets, bug our phones, wiretap our houses, trace our internet activity and follow us in our cars with GPS technology? Their RW talking points are PURE BULLSHIT that can easily be shot down with REALITY BASED INFORMATION. What a bunch of damn fools they are.

6. But Rush and Hannity
told them it's OK. No worries mate.

I don't understand why Rush doesn't just turn all of his Medical Records, phone records and internet activity over to the government. I mean, what's the big deal Rush??
