a Prez in 'real trouble'

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (above with President Bush) told W's sister, Doro Bush Koch, that he was praying for him.

Just how bad are things for President Bush?

Pretty bad, I'd say, if even Clarence Thomas is worried about him.

The other night at a Washington book party for the President's sister, Doro Bush Koch, the Supreme Court justice arrived with his wife, Ginny, on the tented roof of the Hay Adams Hotel, overlooking the White House, and made a beeline for the author.

"We have to pray for your brother. He's in real trouble," Thomas told a wide-eyed Koch, whose older brother is, indeed, suffering from near-catastrophic public-opinion ratings.

Koch — whose memoir of the first President Bush is "My Father, My President: A Personal Account of the Life of George H.W. Bush" — politely thanked Thomas and kept a stiff upper lip.

For any who don't know, clarence thomas was part of the gopig 'revolution' in the immediate aftermath of reganism. His nomination to supreme court, because he was a negro, became a big friggin deal when his aide anita hill accused thomas of being a stinking sex pervert (which no one argued that he wasn't)...more then that, thomas was a rightwinger, a black rightwinger in the age of regan, perhaps the most openly racist president since ...well since racism became not cool. In the book about thomas, called 'strange justice' by Mayer, and Abramson, 1994, this aspect of clarence thomas, his self loathing and use of his colour to serve the gopigs in order to eat like a pig and so on, is recounted in detail. On page 360 of the book, the story of how Thomas was asked if he would ever moderate his opinions, or retire early etc...he replied that 'nope, no way' he intended to serve for '43 years' (he was 43 when confirmed) he said, because that was how long it would take to 'get even' with america!
