1. Yay!! I've been waiting for this album to come out!
Thanks for the reminder - I'm going to buy two copies just because I want to show my support for them. The second is a token of my appreciation - I'll give it to someone.

2. While you're at it...
buy the new Flaming Lips, Neil Young, Ministry, Pink, The Rolling Stones... hmmm... I could probably go on.

Remember when there were pro-Bush albums? Anyone remember Daryl Worley? Yeah, me neither.

15. Already have mine preordered from Amazon... DON'T buy it used on ebay!
Edited on Mon May-22-06 10:33 AM by calipendence
And already picked up Neil Young, Pink, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Burt Bacharach, etc. that have all got songs now that are rejecting this admin.

Make sure you buy these someplace where they will show up as NEW sales, and not used from Ebay, etc. It might cost a buck or two more, but we have to make sure that these sales numbers send a message to the labels that the public wants this now and its good business for them to offer protest music.

I myself have been working in one of the companies that has offered one of the bigger internet radio subscription services. I tried to talk the programming guys back during the start of the war to start up a "protest music" stream, but it was pushed back on me as being too controversial, and they didn't have data on whether any popularity it might have might overtake those that are unhappy with it. I tried to recommend that they have an additional "patriotic music" station to be "fair and balanced", and therefore appear more impartial, but they still wanted to stay away. If we can make protest music a monster driving force for music sales now, perhaps I can revisit my discussions with them now to start such a station up, if it can be shown to drive up subscription sales.

And to see how badly those trying to put up media content that goes against progressive thought now, check out this "$1 special" on Overstock.com, who must have a huge "overstock" of Fahrenhype 9/11 stuff that they're trying to dump now...

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=998048

In addition to taking a loss on sales here, they've been hyping advertising this "special" on places like dvdpricesearch.com for about a month or so.

If you buy the album at Target, you will get a special promotion code that allows you to buy tickets before regular tickets go on sale in June.

Just FYI and I'll see you at Philips Arena! :hi:

17. I saw their "Top of the World" tour a couple of months after the
"Incident." Sold out and everyone came and cheered them on. Only a couple of protesters outside the Rose Garden. Top notch concert and a hell of a lot of fun. The press is making them to be the loud-mouthed radical chicks. There are so many artists that are speaking truth to power, why have it out for them? I know the answer, but jeesh!

12. Isn't it funny the Country Music still trashes the Chicks
With Bush's approval rating right at 30 percent, the brain dead country music fans still trash the Chicks. There isn't enough talent in the whole god damn genre to fill up a phone booth, but they heap shit on one of the few performers that can carry a tune. Lincoln was right, you can fool some of the people, all of the time.

Check out recent stuff by Willie Nelson, Dollie Parton, and Merle Haggard. Dixie Chicks should be complimented for leading the way. Looks like many are starting to follow now!

34. You know, that's the one GOOD thing about this...
With the newer advent of protest songs from country music folks, it helps us separate the redneck scum with fascist tendencies from those that really have heart and soul in their music. For a long time I've kept away from country music more because of there being too many rednecks that have closet messages coming through that worship stupidity, religious "compliance", racism, etc. that I have problems with, not to mention that I didn't much care for much of the musical style anyway. But now I can see who of these folks really have hear, soul, and courage to stand up to criminals which gives me newer interest in listening to country music again.
