Forrest Griffin, the UFC fighter, posted this on myspace a bit ago. One of his friends from his old Marine Unit was wounded in Iraq recently.
On edit... actually, it's this guy's friend. CPL Strand Kyle USMC
Forrest just posted it.

This stuff always saddens me. We got lots of good people over in Iraq getting injured and maimed. It's worth looking at his site and learning a little about him and his condition etc. Whatever a person believes about the war or not, the human cost is substantial. I think it's important to keep a human face on this whole situation, no matter what. It's not just about Bush or this administration, it's much bigger than that.

I can't see how some people can be so numb to this stuff. I remember hearing LBJ used to weep while going over the casualty reports in Vietnam, and how, he got old so fast and died so soon after leaving office. Every time I see the names of the soldiers who died, I always hope I don't see the name of a couple friends I have over there. But those names, they all mean something to somebody... they all have friends, loved ones etc. People who care. It's a tough deal for sure.

back streets of Bangkok and Olongapo.
Facial wounds, grotesque shit. And no fault of theirs.
Missing too many parts, they would gravitate to places like that where they wouldn't be either stared at or pitied, but just fit in and support themselves in any fashion they were able to stumble onto.
And those were our guys, American Soldiers. Fucked for Life.
I often wonder where those guys are today and what they are doing.
So you write that letter and may God bless you. It will mean more than you will ever know.
I've been there.
The most memorable Christmas of my life was spent with a lady from the Red Cross in a miserable hospital room in the Naval Hospital, Yokusuka, Japan.

I would like to know if this is real. There are so many scams out there and this could be one of them.
