Is Neil Young's album getting any airplay on the radio? |
|
I don't listen to the radio much and I'm just wondering. We have a "progressive/folk" station here in Vermont and I haven't heard it on there yet.

4. I heard 'Looking For A Leader' on The Mountain in Seattle. |
|
It was late at night last week, I work midnights and heard Neil around 2:00 A.M.

Haven't heard any of his new songs on the air yet... but I did hear one DJ announce it was coming up... unfortunately, I had to leave the car by then.

8. As a Neil Young fan going way back |
|
I don't know where his new songs would be played.
Classic rock stations?
Certainly not the rock stations that the kids listen to.
I don't know where his market is anymore.

give me a break! Barry Manilow did an album of all cover songs and it hit #1.
just because he's old doesn't mean people don't listen to his music anymore - whether it's old stuff or new releases. he was on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago and got a standing ovation.
the market is huge for Neil Young. Just watch how many tickets they sell on their tour this summer. I bet nearly every show is sold out.
every town has a progressive rock station and a classic rock station, and it would be appropriate for all of the above.
I think it's rather pathetic that some people think this album isn't going anywhere just because Neil Young is "old". Listen to the music for what it is - music. His last album, Prarie whatever, was fairly popular and I hear some of the songs from it on the radio. The radio stations play PLENTY of music from artists older than NY and there's no reason at all this shouldn't get air play, except for the lyric content, which would amount to censorship.

16. I've been a Neil Young fan since Buffalo Springfield |
|
(I'm probably dating myself now...)
I met my wife at a Neil Young and Crazy Horse concert.
But albums over the past 10 years or so just haven't done anything for me.
I plan on going out and getting the new one eventually, and hopefully it will be good.

The radio only plays shit. What possible pop radio format could Neil fit into? Following Three Six Mafia on KISS 95?
Plus, Neil Young derives a lot of his fan base by stroking the self-righteousness of a certain sub-demographic, the ornery contrarian rockhounds (to whom I belong, proudly). If Neil WERE to get a radio hit, he knows his career would dry up. He's selling albums to this sub-demographic now, and he's okay with that.
Go read his biography, "Shakey," by Jimmy McDonough. Neil's a slippery cat.

10. I do believe it's been played on KUT |
|
One of our local stations tends to play a lot of stuff with political content on its daily weekday program, "Eklektikos." I haven't noticed it personally, but then I don't have a keen ear for rock.
