PHOTOS: NOT IN MY NAME! Boston College protests DR. Rice

Boston College professors hold signs in silent protest as Secretary of State Rice (seen in monitor at top) speaks during commencement ceremonies at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts May 22, 2006.

A Boston College professor turns her back in silent protest to Secretary of State Rice.

Protestor Erica Kujawski, of Wellesley, Mass., back left, displays a poster with the likeness of a photograph from the Abu Ghraib prison scandal while marching with others during a demonstration outside Boston College, in Boston, Monday, May 22, 2006. The protest was held as U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice received an honorary degree and addressed graduates at Boston College Monday.

Protestor Sheila Leavitt, of Newton, Mass., displays a sign featuring a photograph of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a demonstration just outside an entrance to Boston College.

Protestor Eileen McCluskey of Watertown, Mass., right, displays a likeness of an image from the Abu Ghraib prison scandal while dressed in clothes meant to resemble those worn by prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

6. Ms Rice believes in the US Constitution.

“You can’t allow somebody to commit the crime before you detain them, because if they commit the crime, thousands of innocent people die,” Condoleezza Rice

14. So we show now detain people before they commit a crime? When
did we change the laws and Constitution? Are we now the 'Minority Report'?

45. That's why we're going to detain everyone indefinitely, without charges.
Because anyone might do something bad at some time in the future.
Except us, of course.

(and that's only slightly exaggerated)

13. Why are they taking down the banner in that last picture?
It's factually correct, doesn't have any naughty words in it, and doesn't have any nasty pictures on it. Puzzling. Why, if it weren't for the overwhelming control that liberals and anti-war voices exercise over the media and in all public places, it would almost look like censorship.

But we know that can't be the case. Bill O'Reilly will explain it all, I'm sure.

21. That's an obvious security risk
seriously. a walkway covered by a large banner like that would create cover for someone in a place that the advance security team couldn't have anticipated. It sucks, but the banner would have been better hung on a wall than in that location. It's a convenient excuse but it's also a legitimate one.

25. Weak, in my opinion
I understand what you're saying, but I'd conjecture that the walkway itself is patrolled by security posted at either end. The presence of the banner on the safety rail doesn't obstruct sight lines down the walkway.

But, any port in a storm for the fascisti, I suppose.

19. Thanks for sharing, Blue Bear.
I love seeing photos like this - they show the true spirit of this country.

By the way, Condiment Rice looks absolutely miserable in these photos. She knows the score. Her little castle made of sand is washing away......by the Tide. The protests are going to get louder, Louder, LOUDER.

I bet you anything she high-tailed it outta there, took a sedative and flew back home pronto.

26. How to spoil what should have been a wonderful day
Those graduates deserved to hear an uplifting speech about THEIR futures...not a recitation of a litany of lies and distortions..

If I had spent a fortune sending MY kid there, I would be asking for monetary compensation for ruining my kid'd special day :)...or at least withholding future donations to a school that so obviously cares little about propriety.

34. At the very least I'd want any fees for
cap/gown rental refunded as well as any other ceremonty related expenses. If it was my kid and I found out Condiliar was the speaker, I'd be beyond furious.

That school had a hell of a lot of nerve inviting a lying sack-of-shit warmonger to spew her filth. No member of the Bush Crime Family deserves any respect whatever. I know many students and profs made a statement with their signs and by turning their backs. I'd have liked to see them all walk out and leave her talking to a bunch of empty chairs interspersed with zombie-like kool-aid drinkers.
