The media whores are shitting on Gore again
Edited on Mon May-22-06 03:05 PM by Stevendsmith
I hear that Gore’s new film on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, is very good and very frightening. The release of this film and the speculation that he might run for president again has put him back in the news.

And the shameless media whores have picked up right where they left off during campaign 2000. They speak of Gore with that “Is this guy serious?” smirk on their faces, as if this extremely intelligent man who won the popular vote and who carries a dire warning for the suicidally idiotic human race is some sad lost clown from the fringes of the political wilderness. They role their eyes at his “far-left” “environmental extremism” and pepper their “analysis” of this good and wise man with chuckling condescension and recycled talking points about his “identity crisis.” And all the while, they drool over the fucking idiot criminal fraud and fall all over themselves to kiss his ill-gotten presidential ring.

I hate them with every molecule of my existence.

1. Orders from Gonzales, Rove, and Snow....
Edited on Mon May-22-06 03:12 PM by Triana
...besides look at the corprat trash that owns the media in this country...here we sit, sawing off the tree limb our very humanity is perched upon and all the sneering media can do is laugh maniacally while supporting a regime that only seems to want to exacerbate the problem by speeding up the process. For profit, of course.

The FIRST TWO things any Democrat needs to do if/when elected is:

1. FIX THE DAMNED ELECTION SYSTEM (probably a catch-22 because I doubt one will get elected whilst it's still broken)
2. FIX THE DAMNED CORPRAT-OWNED MEDIA. Break it up. Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.

This race is collectively an idiotic one. What you see now is it destroying itself beneath its own greed, shortsighteness, and inability to evolve. I'm not sure there is any stopping it. (glass is empty. NOT half empty. EMPTY.)

Call me a pessimist...

37. Which is why Al Will Not Run in 2008..... IMHO.
He's through with having his life raked through the mud. He's tired of screaming at the top of his lungs to our STUPID NATION.

He's better off making movies, giving speaches, going to Cannes and being a cause celeb.

It makes my heart hurt.

I think Al Gore is a decent man, who acts with good intentions. I think he aches for America. I wish he would run, but I do not think he will put himself and his family through it. Politics in America is no longer humane. Its barely human.

6. Doesn't matter what they say
Gore has already said he's done with running for office. Period. And IMHO Gore has developed an even thicker skin than he had previously. I doubt they can actually hurt him.

But yes, they are assholes.

7. It's up to Gore to defend himself and he can do it
He was right about global warming and so many others things too, like Social Security. Gore was part of an administration that created 23 million new jobs and left with a 128 billion dollar surplus....compare that to the asshat and his mess for the past 5 years.

One thing that will always stick out in my mind...It was the Clinton/Gore administration that appointed anti terorism czar Richard Clarke...the one person all of bush's administration ignored.

"Last week, for example, Vice President Cheney attempted to defend the Administration's eavesdropping on American citizens by saying that if it had conducted this program prior to 9/11, they would have found out the names of some of the hijackers.

Tragically, he apparently still doesn't know that the Administration did in fact have the names of at least 2 of the hijackers well before 9/11 and had available to them information that could have easily led to the identification of most of the other hijackers. And yet, because of incompetence in the handling of this information, it was never used to protect the American people."

22. Occasionally, one's intuition just tells you when the time is right.
My intuition is telling me that now about Gore's relationship with the American people. We are sick of money and power grabbing criminals. We long for honest and wise leadership. Gore can give us that and we know it.

In the news recently, i saw a statement from him, that
in so many years of national politics, that he was out.
Is he just saying that to wait to be drafted, to to
keep off the attack dogs until he runs? DUbous. I
feel he's cleared the way for no speculation, or
why do you think he'll run?

I think he's waiting for his moment. Why give them extra time to swiftboat him? No way he will say anything remotely definite before the middterms.

I also think that he probably wants a grassroots fire - that we DEMAND that he run.

17. It is as simple as that. So, stop agonizing over their apparent
unfairness. Note that in Venezuela, the rich corporatist also own the media which spews out anti Chavez propaganda 24 by 7. How was Chavez able to overcome that problem while here in the U.S. we haven't? Transparent elections. President Carter said that the 2004 U.S. elections did not come up to the most basic levels of legitimacy. (paraphrase) The Venezuelan elections are carefully monitored by several International agencies. Why don't we do that? If our elections are honest, what would we have to hide?

"Al Gore's Unlikely Helpers"

By Sebastian Mallaby
Monday, May 22, 2006; Page A17

Snips~
"Ordinarily this film would never have been made, let alone scheduled for release in hundreds of theaters. But President Bush and the congressional Republicans have created a Ross Perot moment: a hunger for a leader with diagrams and charts, for a nerd who lays out basic facts ignored by blinkered government. By their contempt for expert opinion on everything from Iraqi reconstruction to the cost of their tax cuts, Republicans have turned Diagram Gore into a hero. By their serial dishonesty, Republicans have created a market for "An Inconvenient Truth" -- the title of Gore's movie.

Republican dishonesty reaches its extreme on the issue of global warming. Yes, climate science is complex, and nobody can forecast the earth's temperature with complete confidence. But the fact that scientists don't know everything isn't a license to ignore what they do know: that the earth is warming, glaciers are melting and sea levels are rising at an accelerating pace -- and that these changes are driven at least partly by fossil-fuel consumption. The U.S. National Academies have confirmed this; their foreign counterparts have confirmed this; and so has the world's top authority on the subject, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change . None of this is controversial."

Much more..
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/21/AR2006052101183.html

In the first sentence Mallaby says "Liberals famously love John McCain,.." which I don't agree with..Liberals are getting wise to mccain, but everything else seems to be wonderfully spot-on.
