Update on Voting Woes.......
Edited on Mon May-22-06 03:16 PM by OhioChick
A quick recap: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1092577&mesg_id=1092577

I've grown tired of not hearing from anyone as of today. I received a "card" with a phone number to call to see if "your" provisional ballot counted (at the location I voted in on the day of the primaries), so I called. (Board of Elections) Apparently, my provisional counted. I was asked if I wanted the information regarding my husband's provisional as well...............WTF?? My husband did NOT vote provisional. I inquired about what all this was regarding, as he's been a registered voter since the age of 18, having the same voter registration ID#. I was told that his voter ID# no longer existed as of these recent primaries, but it could be found dating back to the last election. I explained that he did NOT vote provisional, his name was within the book.........he signed and voted. It was me that he waited for.......filling out all of the provisional shit. According to their records.........not the case. His ID# no longer exists, and they insisted that he voted provisional........which did NOT count. (stating that the reason was because he was NOT a registered voter)

The woman at the BOE that I spoke with realizes that we both have voting problems, (For God's sake.......I even possess the person's info that currently is voting with my registration #) but seemed to be "put off" that I called and inquired about them. She said that they've been overwhelmed with counting votes and working 24 hour shifts. When I mentioned to her that the ACLU has been contacting me periodically to touch base with me regarding this fiasco, she quickly intervened that she would pass on all of this information to the Executive Assistant Director of the BOE to be looked into.

Since then, I have spoken with this "new" person, whom is "supposed" to be finding out how these problems happened and how to straighten out the mess. I was promised a call back by the week's end.

And so the saga continues.......

Makes one wonder if this is happening to two people in one family.........how many others it's happening to that is going unnoticed. Will update when I find out more. In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas as to what to do at this point, I'm all ears. What a frustrating road it's been thus far.........
