he obviously wasn't concerned about that when he was taking the bribes in the first place. The state party should hold a congress and remove their endorsement. don't wait for him to act, boot him now.

If this guy's dirty I hope he serves time. I'm sick to death of crooked politicians, and of white-collar crime going unpunished.

5. He should behave just like DeLay did -- no resignation |
|
unless he's indicted and even then, think about it first. Resigning would only attract MORE attention (if that's possible).

The way I feel about it is if he's guilty, and he knows if he is or not, he should resign.
I would love nothing more than to be able to remove every corrupt politician from office and fill their seats with ones who will work for the good of the people.
For me this is not a partisan issue.

9. In regards to removing every corrupt politician |
|
you'd have to get rid off them all.
As long as there is government, the wrong men will rule. This is not a prediction. It’s an axiom.

However, ridding our government of those who are foolish enough to keep the cash in their home freezer is a good place to begin. Don't you think?

That being said, he should resign but will probably not. When will DeLay be bunking in with Dukey? Besides never that is...

He had better resign before the November elections. Who wants this to be a pertinent issue in November? Why should he put all other Democrats in jeapordy simply because he is stubborn and egotistical?
Can his ass now.

And I was a horse's a** to suggest that ANY Dem behave like DeLay -- I take that one back completely!

|
in the same way that God sent manna from heaven, then I do agree that he should resign.
But the problem is...what other Dem will be found guilty of some crime before November? We can't be stupid enough to believe that Jefferson is the only one. He is the only one that has been CAUGHT!
On C-Span's WJ this morning, it was pointed out that Rick Santorum and Harry Reid were the recipients of the greatest amount of cash from lobbyists to their campaign coffers.
So...what else is new?

This guy should be forced to resign - his office should be flooded with emails, faxes, etc, demanding he step down. And the MORE publicity about THAT, the better.
That will send a message to Republicans that when one of our own is caught with his hand in the cookie jar, he gets booted out - no excuses made for his behaviour - OUT!
As long as he stays, it gives the other side the opportunity (which they will no doubt use to their advantage) to say, "See, the Dem politicians are corrupt, too, so stop saying it's only the Republicans."
Sorry, but suggesting that any Democrat behave 'just like DeLay did' is not acceptable.

21. If handled properly, this could be one of those ... |
|
... lemons into lemonaide situations.
The Dems should make a BIG DEAL about calling for Jefferson's resignation IMMEDIATELY. Publicize the fact that WE do not allow corruption to go unchecked in our own party.
The Repubs would have no plausible response, other than: "Look how the Democrats turn on their own." And the immediate answer from our side would be, "When we find a corrupt official in our midst, you are DAMNED REAL we turn on them - and turf them out of office, and out of our party."

He really should resign. They've got the video. It'll be played over and over by the Repub pundits, with the insinuation that "Democrats are corrupt, too!"
Sad. He could have resigned and ended this saga...instead, it's going to played, played, and replayed. :(

on Eye ON Washington, Sunday that the House Ethics committee after more than a year will now be holding sessions soon because 2 Dems are being investigated, and also because Duke and Delay are no longer members. Anyone else hear that?

Duke Cunningham? Where, after all, millions in bribery happened and much more in contracts were dealt out... not that any of this absolves Jefferson, but, did these guys even at least censure Duke after the fact?

I really can not believe the people on DU who have such a double standard. Hell, we did not have as much hard evidence with Delay and everyone was all over that. I do not respect a double standard no matter where it comes from. Same with Kennedy. He was loaded, yet the excuses came fast and furious. I can only think that this attitude is coming from those who have lived but a short time on this earth and have a lot of living and learning yet to do.

Al Sharpton was on Hardball last night and said "something if fishy" about this case - that they knew of this ONE YEAR ago - and they're just now bringing charges - and why the raid now.
If he's guilty - he deserves what he gets, but I want to hear his side.
