LOL Jon Stewart just asked his guest what will happen to JEWS
if Alito is confirmed.

Joking, of course. I...well, maybe he wasn't.

"Will we be asked to leave?"

1. HeeHee.
I'm on the West Coast, and I usually view in about another hour and a half - after I've put Beloved Daughter (9) to sleep.

Is it a Rethuglican guest or a progressive (not that I'm biased)?

14. Tragically, I think he will.
It makes this Juris Doctor (law degre) cry; this Court will last for years. When I would take a class, there would be a period in which we read cases from a forty-year-period, for example. And I would realize that our nation had periods during which church-state separation was minimal, for example, and I would feel a profound sense of disappointment. It was so heartbreaking to read the "Dred Scott" decision, for another example.

I guess what I'm saying is that I fondly remember reading cases from the Court when Earl Warren and Thurgood Marshall wrote the opinions. Now, we're in for horrible opinions probably for the rest of my life (I'm 47).

My kid will look back and think of this as a horrible time in the Court's history (the Roberts court, that is).

Sorry, I'm depressed and tired, and wondering why I spent five years learning what Booosh is about to destroy, or has destroyed (my beloved Law).

20. I agree with you
It's been over 20 years since I studied Con Law. I'm 47 too and I worry what this court will do to affect my son's life. I am really scared for our country.

23. Me too.
I'm thankful I live in California; at least we have some state lawmakers trying to keep California a progressive state.

I would love to go back there, but hubby's job is here. At least I can take some comfort in knowing that Jeb is termed out. I do keep my bar status active there, just in case.

28. Good deal!
Hey, who knows? Your hubby might get a great job out here. You guys can come back. Then we'll form a welcoming committee to throw a party on your first day back! And ... we'll have at least two more progressives out here - because I want turn California pure BLUE!!!! (It can be blue-green; that would be fine - NO red).

2. Holy shit. DID he?
I quit watching TDS after the election when the humor became, in my eyes, irrelevant, and the "jokes" went into the realm of really bad taste. But if John's no longer pulling punches with the fascists, I might start watching again.

Anyone who isn't a white, wealthy, Christian male doesn't matter to him.

8. Because the court will be about American Church values - not about
separation of church & state. If that is how Alito votes.

19. Okay, I guess I deserved that.
I wish those Senators would stand up for the Spirit of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. But I doubt they will.

Ted Kennedy and Barbara Boxer will, and some of our other favorites, but the rest probably see those documents as "G*dd*mned pieces of paper," like Booosh.

This will probably just be a big show.

I guess I'm not feeling too optimistic.

Anyone else have a better attitude?

15. The thing that really chilled me about Scallito
is that he seemed to lack empathy and compassion...
any sense of humanity and understanding.
he was cold and technical... overly technical.
So were the Nazis. Now I'm not saying that this
man's a Nazi.. but there are some terrifying similarities

not one glimmer human understanding.. yikes
