PM needs to show respect on the job

OTTAWA—Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be out on the road for much of this week, just as his government seems to be entering a new, tougher period.

Harper will travel to London, Ont., Vancouver and Victoria, B.C., by week's end, putting distance between himself and an increasingly nasty climate on Parliament Hill.

snip

And then there was another public dustup with the parliamentary press gallery, which featured Harper cancelling a news conference because journalists would not go along with PMO's insistence on deciding who asks the questions at these events.

As a result, the PMO had to ask lobbyists and consultants to phone reporters and put out the "lines" Harper had wanted to convey for a midday news cycle.

more, much more and none of it good news for Harper rofl

Good on the media for refusing to cover Harper under his arrogant, controlling rules.

but it looks like the majority of the ones that cover Parliament, etc, are standing firm against Harper's attempts at control.

3. I am pleasantly surprised they held firm and forced Harper to
cancel his press conference. Harper has a very fragile minority government and it is not wise, not wise at all to make enemies of them as Harper has, I am glad he is too arrogant to see that, lol, because we may get rid of him quicker.

4. Stevie's a little too brittle for the job.
Don't believe this bullshit

they are, always have been, and always will be the

Party, with all the same attitudes.

Guns good, cities bad, oil companies good, taxpayers bad, George W, drop your pants, Steve.

I hope and believe that STevie won't last. At this rate I'm betting on November. By then he will have pissed off enough opposition and no confidence, here we come.

5. Yep, this article spells out his arrogance, petty behavior quite well
He contained it during the campaign but his true character is coming out full bore again. I find it quite delicious the media refused to cover him under his rules.

7. Charest under pressure over Kyoto
MONTREAL — Quebec Premier Jean Charest is under pressure to end the honeymoon with Prime Minister Stephen Harper because of the federal government's position on the Kyoto protocol.

Parti Quebecois Leader Andre Boisclair said Monday that Charest should show some leadership by preparing a plan for Quebec to meet the conditions of the agreement seemingly being abandoned by the federal government.

"I hope that Mr. Charest will take a clear stand and will take his distance from the Harper government," Boisclair told reporters.

"The best way for Mr. Charest to do so is to decide — for Quebec, on behalf of Quebecers — to start to implement the Kyoto Protocol."

8. And done without even the facade of a Commons vote.
I work in law enforcement and I quite like knowing whether there are weapons registered when I show up at a property. That doesn't mean there are none if none are registered, but you DO know if they are there.

9. Good, for two reasons, primarily because it would be the right
thing to do and, a distant second because it would cause Harper indigestion, lol.

13. Yep, Harper had try and get his lobbyist buddies, etc, to try and
sell his message instead of the media being a filter for him. I hope the press continues to hold the line.

I am just so pleased to see articles like this come out, it seems the Harper honeymoon is over and, hopefully, the process for divorce won't be too far off, lol.

16. Harper is a control freak
as evidenced by his muzzling his own MPs. However, I think that the majority of those wingnuts will eventually and spectacularly show their true colours. Hopefully, just before the next election. Fingers crossed!
