Steven Colbert: "Let's Embrace Our MILITARY IMPERIALISM" |
|
Even though this was a comedy skit, it injects the concept into the MSM... and I'm grateful that someone is just calling it like it is, even though most of our representation in government is not.
On "The Word" skit, Colbert was discussing the boredom of the Alito hearings and then spun off on a completely different direction about the reality of our culture and just perhaps why people aren't up in arms about the FASCISM our government has been practicing. here is a transcript I compiled from tonight's episode while watching/rewinding on DVR:
"People LOVE Military Parades, they're a great show... 'but military parades are for Empires you say"...No more fake humility about this America, Let's face our military and cultural IMPERIALISM" What are we waiting for? A Horse in the senate? Once your a military empire, you can do whatever you want.. there's no more, 'this is against international law!' or 'that's torture!' because of course it is... when you are an empire, THAT'S COOL. As soon as we call ourselves an empire, just like the Miss America pageants, we'll be barely covering our butts."
While it was very funny, there was an undertone of sad reality to it.

1. Colbert is simply too much. |

I don't know if it's always there but when he sits at his main desk, look over his left shoulder & on his bookcase is a framed picture of Harriet Miers. It's about 7 x 9. I don't know if it's always there but it was tonight, maybe in honor of Alito. That just cracked me up.

2. His message, a VERY serious one, was couched in the humor of a skit. |

Colbert was joking on the square. :(
