Pretend you are one of the founding fathers, or mothers, only today, not in 1776.

For the sake of argument, let's say America is under the boot of a monarch named George, who has assumed dictatorial powers and started a world war based on lies.

And let's pretend that this corrupt, murderous leader has been finally removed by the people along with his entire administration, and punished. A new government has to be created from the ashes of the old one. What would be the goals?

(cue "Jeopardy" theme)

1. They did it right in 1776...
Americans just decided to become lazy and uneducated and voted for people that represented them in seeming lazy and uneducated while using that as a cover to destroy the very democracy our founding fathers created. And most of these appeasing voters are complicit in the death of the constitution today.

4. I agree, but we have entirely different problems.
The guys who made the constitution couldn't have imagined life in 2006, but many of the same principles do still apply.

7. Technologically things are different... but..
fundamentally things are the same. The Founding Fathers (most of them) tried to protect us from the overbearing control of religious fanatics and here we are, run by religious fanatics. They saw first hand the impact of taxes and how you could curry political support from publically outcrying against it.

In many ways the problems are exactly the same.

8. Some of the similarities are creepy.
Seems the past is coming back to haunt us, Rome, Nazi Germany, monarchial rule, etc.

What is Deep physiological and IQ testing of ALL candidates for office? (No more Idiots holding office)

What are NO Lobbyists? Our Politicians will be smart enough to "Figure Out" what needs to be done

Take the huge salaries and perks and limos and jets and mansions and all the other baronial accoutrement's, and make it a position of honor instead of huge profits and power.

5. A sort of socialist democracy
Universal health care and allowances for food and housing. Stringent new restrictions on companies outsourcing. Make the US a "No tolerance zone" for corporate corruption. Completely revamp or eliminate the electoral college system, campaign fundraising rules and lobbying rules. Abolish the NSA or make them completely accountable to congressional oversight. Nothing done in the name of "National Security" can usurp or suspend the powers of the constitution, EVER! No Presidential signing statements. Mandatory Presidential press conferences at least weekly. etc. etc, more when I wake up.

6. Universal health care is at the top of my list too.
And zero tolerance for corruption, or war crimes.

Oh, and the president should take a mental exam and urine test every 6 months.
