I saw Baghdad ER last night! |
|
For anyone who is an advocate of the Iraq invasion, and who do not have any loved ones fighting over there, needs to be duct taped to a chair, eyes held wide open and forced to see what this administration has done! It is ashame what is going on over there! And, they are crying that the media is not reporting good news? Where is the good news? I cannot wait until November! This is B.S.!

3. There are some scenes that are extremely graphic. |
|
I had to turn my head on more that one occasion. But overall, it wasn't too bad.

5. I asked a couple of teenage boy the other day... |
|
... what they would do if the Chimp drafted them eventually... These are boys from Repuke families who want to go into fire-fighting, you know, good boys... They both said they would either run, or damage themselves in a way that would be unacceptable by the military... Yikes...!

2. Dimson, Cheney, Rummy, Rice, etc., fall into that category. I |
|
wonder if they could bother their 'beautiful minds' by watching?

7. I believe they need to send some one that is no more than once removed |
|
from them in their families! They all should send a first cousin, a niece a nephew, a brother, or a sister! Put them right on the front! So they can lay awake a night trying to figure out if their loved one made it to see another day.

10. I believe you're right, but it won't happen. This war is for kids |
|
and soldiers not associated with them. They're aware of the carnage, and I'm convinced they just don't give a shit.

4. I can definately see why the military doesn't want people watching this |
|
It won't help them recruit.
I do think for some vets it could bring out PTSD. But, I could also see how it could be for some helpful for emotional healing.
For the general public it is an important movie to see if you can stomach it.

11. If Bush was forced to watch it |
|
his response undoubtedly would be that all of those soldiers knew the risks when they signed up for duty...just as any repuke you show that documentary to would say.
They like to conveniently leave out the fact that the invasion of Iraq was illegal, immoral and unnecessary and we shouldn't even be there in the first place.
I watched Baghdad ER on Sunday night and I cried. What the hell are we doing??????

13. Remember "A Clockwork Orange"? I was thinking that all of the neocons |
|
should be strapped into chairs with their eyelids propped open and made to watch this documentary over and over again.
However, the war in Iraq is old news to shrub. He has already decided that it is someone else's mess to clean up.

16. I watched it Sunday. My husband who served there for over a year watched |
|
it yesterday since I Tivo'd it. Very moving and insightful. It was rather graphic in some places, but my husband said it was nothing compared to what you actually saw over there. I was cringing, but the graphic part had no effect on him. The chaplain was an incredible man! I noticed how when he prayed over the soldiers who had died that he would say, may this soldier's life and even his (they were all men) death bring peace and an end to this senseless war.
I would highly recommend viewing it. SOmetimes seeing disturbing things can have a profound effect on us.

17. A film, like this is very important |
|
Although I am too young to have a first hand account, I often hear my parents talk about Vietnam and how the reporting showed you the cold hard facts (and pictures). When people actually have to confront what it is that happens in a war it is hard to sit back and accept. I think the huge peace movement came partially in response to these images.
We don't have this now. The news deems things "too graphic". I don't understand why when there are regular tv shows where I can a womans chest sliced open to slip a fake tit in, but the news deems it "too graphic" to show what is happening in a war. War is graphic..... that's why it should be only used as a necessity. Pisses me off.

18. I got to watch it Sunday with my wife. That was the first thing I said to |
|
her about it. The knuckledraggers need to sit their butts down and watch the whole thing, they would change their tunes.
It was so well done, and you just have to remember that what you're seeing is actually toned down quite a bit. I just couldn't get over some of the soldiers that they showed. The one that really stuck in my mind was the soldier who survived 4 IED attacks. 4 FRIGGIN IED attacks!?! How much PTSD can one soldier stand?

19. what really stuck in my mind |
|
was the soldier that was in shock after seeing his friends face get blown off....... I can't even begin to wrap my brain around going through that. He was obviously traumatized (of course), but there was this very innocent quality to him repeating what he saw in disbelief. I couldn't help thinking about him frequently after I watched the film.
