"...between a definitive Supreme Court decision and violent revolution."
I have thought of what would have happened if Al Gore had not gone along with the Supreme Court decision? He knew it was not right. But he also knew there was nothing else he could have done. Can someone explain what else he coud have done??

<snip>

Does he, like many Democrats, think the election was stolen?

Gore pauses a long time and stares into the middle distance. "There may come a time when I speak on that,” Gore says, "but it’s not now; I need more time to frame it carefully if I do.” Gore sighs. "In our system, there’s no intermediate step between a definitive Supreme Court decision and violent revolution."

Later, I put the question of Gore’s views on the matter to David Boies, his lawyer in the Florida-recount battle. "He thought the court’s ruling was wrong and obviously political," Boies says. So he considers the election stolen? "I think he does—and he’s right."

1. the violent revolution would have come
if Gore was installed instead of Bush . . . I mean, look at the frenzy that the Reich-wing media whipped this country into over the "election" itself . . . and the NRA sides with Repukes 99.9999999 percent of the time (Ted Strickland got the nod from the NRA) . . .

2. one has to consider all that has happened since is a consequence of
allowing that injustice to stand.

I have to think we should have stood up to the coup when it happened.

3. It's going to come to a shooting civil war at some point
The 4th Reich is not going to give up power peacefully. So having it in 2000 would have saved us 8 years of Smirk.

5. It would have taken only one US Senator to stand up
Not a single US Senator would stand with the Black Caucus.

8. gore didnt want to break the country
He was viewing it from the perspective of "it was stolen from me" and not "it was stolen from the country" he saw the very real chance of violence if he pushed the issue and chose to "take one for the country" rather that engage the risk of uprising.

Kerry did the same.

They were both wrong.

9. There's a strong case to be made
That failing to fight for it is what broke it.

10. Under what circumstances could Gore have become President ??
The only possible way I could have imagined was if the Supreme Court withdrew decision (highly unlkely) and then permitted the full count of the votes in Florida. I could see no other way. The media would have destroyed Gore - unpatriotic, sour grapes, traitor, and worse...
