Bush's supporters seem to prefer lies over truth, what's up with that?
They seem to prefer the official white house explanations on everything, the war, 9-11, the economy, the Texas Air National Guard, the corruption, etc.

Even after the lies are confirmed, they still seem to prefer to repeat them, Saddam attacked us, we're winning in Iraq and the like.

Is it a psychosis of some kind, or neurosis, or what the hell is wrong with these people? Do they simply get off on being contrary and being lied to?

1. 9/11 changed every thing
Edited on Tue May-23-06 10:48 AM by liberal N proud
In their little minds, they gave up every freedom to bu$h on 9/11 and it is OK with them.
WHY?
I have often wondered if it isn't just generation envy. Previous generations had their own wars to glorify and the current generation was envious that they did not have one. So they forfeit their freedoms in vein.

2. Stupidity for some...
a desire to "stand by your chimp" for others. Those that fall into those two categories do not scare me. It is the ones that want to expedite the "end times" or who want more money, environment be damed, that worry me.

3. Several reasons
one, some believe that any authority figure (President, preacher, etc) is to be obeyed no matter what they say.

Two, some like lies because the lies support their prejudices.

Three, some are so deluded they cannot handle the thought that they were lied to-so they stick their fingers in their ears and go "lalala"

4. Misplaced pride maybe
They had themselves so convinced of who the enemy was and how things worked that some don't know how to change their minds I guess. It's like being in an argument with someone where you know they have a point but you think so little of them that you'd rather fight than admit it. Some just decided that they hate something else more than lies I'd guess, or don't know how to back down without looking stupid. Eventually maybe they'll realize that sticking to a bad point isn't any better.

5. Bigotry
They have bought into so many lies and mistruths about the left that they see us as the enemy rather than just an opposing political party. They have taken their followers down a road that is extreme, and extremely harder to turn off of. What motivates them all? Lies and fear.

8. With some of them, it's because they're bullies
Some of them get off on the 'tough guy' bit, and think that going on about how macho the war is makes them real men. Nothing more then boys who never went through puberty.

9. They prefer Truthiness to Truth
Edited on Tue May-23-06 11:51 AM by htuttle
Their 'guts' still tell them that Saddam attacked us on 9/11, ergo, they still believe it to be true.

It seems to be beyond their intellectual abilities to examine WHY their guts still tell them that (ie., it's due to a relentless barrage of propaganda), since that would require honest introspection. They can't do it -- it might prove that they were wrong.

11. Truth does not require faith.
Edited on Tue May-23-06 12:00 PM by NastyDiaper
And faith does not require understanding.

They are lazy and stupid. Seriously, a few have a legitimate greed agenda, but mostly it's drive through politics.

They can flaunt faith as though they care, but not bother to know anything.
