Do I need to find a tinfoil?
First, why would anyone takes home a disk with such a sensitive material?

Two, why would his house be burglarized at that time? Does he live in a high crime area? Were other houses in the neighborhood burglarized at the same time?

What is going on?

2. I agree - highly suspect that the info. just happened to be stolen.
Either VA officials are frequently breaking laws and taking data home, and this time it happened to get stolen in the burglary, or there's a lot more to it than we currently know.

(Perhaps VA security is so poor that hackers can easily get in, and by having this "theft" they are covering their butts? With all the lies from *co, who knows what the real story is?)

4. there were simular robberies in the area
Edited on Tue May-23-06 10:59 AM by WoodrowFan
according to the local news last night, there have been other robberies in the area of computer equipment in his neighborhood. That said, my first reaction was "why the hell was he taking that info home anyway?????" Time to check out his bank accounts methinks, looking for large recent deposits...

6. Sounds like an inside job

The VA needs to release the name of the varmint that took that stuff home.

7. Inside job, of course
There was no reason for that disk to be in ANYONE's home. Period.

Plus, whoever took it knew exactly where it was and what was on it.

However, don't expect any accountability if it was a GOP appointee.

They just don't DO accountability.

8. Is the VA run like pre-Katrina FEMA?
Just award it for a crony and a donor and don't worry about really running it?

Are veterans, most of them are senior citizens by now, the forgotten generation?

For years we've heard about the sloppiness of the VA Hospitals. It appears that all those chicken hawks limit their support of the military only when it involves huge contracts to defense contractors, not once "the troops" that they support come home.
