Helicopter flying search pattern over Eastern Elgin, IL... |
|
Is anybody aware of any active manhunts or missing children in the area?
It made several low passes over my neighborhood, and moved off East of here, and I can still hear it off beyond the Park.
It isn't the typical search for pot patches in the forest preserve, because those never come over the city proper.
Sometimes I wish I had a police scanner.

1. Imm. I'm downstate. Central IL. And Sunday afternoon |
|
I was at a buddy's house in his back yard and we saw, over the course of 2 hours, about 5 of the big Chinuk helicoptors flying all over our area. I'm basically in the center of the state. We never see air traffic like this, and everyone who was there commented about them.

you're ben burch of the white rose society..
you saw the movie of sophie scholl....
they are slowly beginning to flex their dictatorship muscle...
some folks think we are crazy for thinking this, but I think the clamp down has already begun.
it began when the report about tapping ABC report cellphones and continues with helicopter fly bys....
more intimidation and yet we will not stop our resistance....

11. Resistance can and needs to take on many forms. It can range |
|
from silent (and not-so-silent) vigils outside government facilities and in neighborhoods to civil disobedience.
For example, as I write, there are currently over 85 anti-war\anti-militarism vigils regularly occurring in the Los Angeles area. (I've been participating regularly in two of them for over the past four years.)
Within the electoral system, resistance can and should mean supporting progressive candidates in primary campaigns against their pro-war, pro-militarist DINO incumbents. For example, I'm currently volunteering on Marcy Winograd's campaign to unseat war-pig Jane Harman in the June 6 CA Democratic primary.

as well, I am starting election fraud lawsuits for which I have spent thousands of dollars and time and effort..
I may lose, but at least I"m trying to resist this demagogery....

No helicopters required!
And I have zero suspicion that they were doing ANYTHING political. I just wondered if there was a missing child or an escapee from the local forensic mental health facility...

Lot of union politics and discussion around the dinner table. Hoffa going missing was a constant joke. My dad was originally from the Bronx and a Sicilian, to boot. You know we had "mob" discussions regularly. His family took personal affront at the "Godfather" movies.

if people are planting outdoors any earlier, they'll end up with an inferior end product.
unless of course you live in an area where the summer solstice doesn't happen june 21-22.

a couple of times we've called the local police substation just to inquire what was up, they're usually pretty forthcoming. Mostly it's missing kids and usually they're found.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Elgin's gotta be one of the largest domestic producers of band instruments (and it's the only thing I know the town for).

Has a new roller-coaster and a water park now...
LOTS of development out on Randall Road and west of there. Large warehouses and shopping areas. McMansions everywhere. Elgin is now a quite rectangular city with its western annexations.

i had heard that there were money problems. i worked there for three years...including driving the zamboni in the polar dome in the winters.
i still have family & friends in the area, and my pot dealer lives on the west side, so i make it out to elgin at least a couple times a month.

kinda like high school- but with no teachers or homework. i started out as a costume character- i wore a beaver costume around the park, and in some shows. i stayed on for the winter, sharpening skates and driving the zamboni...the park's mechanical maintenance guy back then was a great guy named heinz stock- he had been captured on a u-boat in ww2...he had been a machinist mate in the german navy.

Makes more sense than a manhunt given that most manhunts would at least be mentioned on the news.

Edit: (About two weeks ago) I was sitting on my porch grading papers when two choppers came overhead. I got the binos and was able to ID then as two news copters from the local TV stations. It turned out someone had walked in front of a commuter train.
