3. I agree. But I believe she would say |
|
...that she's only doing what everyone should do: pick and side and speak out.

4. Thank you for reminding me of this splendid woman! |
|
She awakened me to the horrors of today's reality with her presentation of "Come September". I was oblivious to all things political until this president started his pathological black and white, 'You're either with us or you're with the terrorists," blather. No one that I knew seemed at all troubled by this rhetoric, so I assumed I was completely crazy. The more I heard him, the more alarmed and crazier I got. Then I heard Arundhati Roy speak - and realized I wasn't crazy. My alarm and despair grow daily and, at this point, I question the effectiveness of non-violent resistance, but she perseveres and remains a wonder of clarity, if not hope.

I can't think of anyone more lucid or enchanting than Arundhati Roy, in written word or speech. She's incredibly inspiring.
Welcome to DU, confuddled! (One of my favorite words!) :hi:

8. She caught my attention... |
|
...with a very moving article days after September 11. She's a champion of justice and equality and I wish her success in these endeavors, especially since India is closer to fascism these days than even the US.
Note, all, how rightfully unforgiving she can be on the fact that we, as a nation, allowed Bush back into office. She's right, we should've barricaded the doors when Bushboy was spending $40 million on his coronation--um, inaguration!
Note my tag line, below ( :) ).

6. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention |
|
In my view, as you might guess, she is one of the most articulate and insightful voices speaking for the commmon interests of all humanity. I record Democracy Now! but haven't had a chance to listen to this show yet. I look forward to doing so and thanks for the alert.
