Scary stuff.
They found the kid that made the threat.
At a middle school.
I was, for one of the first times in my life, terrified. :scared:
on edit: Sorry. They didn't find it. I'm just really freaked out.

5. I hope that this doesn't get press, acutally. |
|
Well... at least not national press. There's more important things... But trust me, I wouldn't joke around about this. It was very scary!!!

14. this sort of thing used to not get press, but these days, who knows? |
|
One of the high schools I attended had 3-4 bomb threats per week. No, that's not an exaggeration. Once we managed to have two in the same class period -- we'd no sooner gotten the "all clear" than another threat popped up. AFAIK, there were never any bombs. We always assumed it was somebody who wanted to get out of a test, boring class, etc. This was back in the 70's and it never made the local news.

15. I can recall a lot of this back some years. |
|
Kids were doing it to get our of school. They were not terrorists but one has to recall that lots of Am. were blowing up things or saying they would at one time. Many seemed to be after arms and money to keep these odd groups going. It was sort of wild.

6. Was there really a bomb? |
|
Usually bomb scares are called in as a prank to watch the school go through the drill or to get out of taking a test. It works sort of like someone pulling the fire alarm when there isn't really a fire.

16. There was a book out about nine years ago about |
|
being afraid or fear is our friend or something like that. The author said that people who make bombs don't make bomb threats.
People who make the threats are into having masses of people evacuate buildings. They are into having that kind of control over that many people, or they have a test they really, really, really don't want to take.
On the other hand, people who make bombs are into seeing them blow up and wouldn't want to do anything to prevent it. In other words, real bombers don't make threats, they just do it.
So, as long as it was a bomb threat, you are probably safe but no one wants to take any chances. Consider it an opportunity to get some fresh air.
