Did you ever notice how many times Chris Matthews refers to having seen the movie when he's trying to make a point about an issue? He just did that when talking about immigration with Barbara Boxer. When he does this, it is definitely not a grace note but a clinker. I always find that odd. But then again, sometimes it sounds like the way he spins his hypotheticals is akin to scripting a bad movie based on an overactive imagination.

Some one must have told him to stop. It was like our whole history were the 30 years we had all the cowboys out West. Then he took what they did with cowboys in the movies as what they were really like.
