La Scalitas fake"crying spell"... and how some DUers misread the evidence.
To begin: it was FAKE, anyone who doubts that FACT
needs to take 2 steps back from the Koolaid.

And it was PLANNED in advance;
this was made clear when EVERY
media-whore on the B*shCabal™ payroll
was on camera within 15 minutes,
repeating the SAME "Evil-Democrats-made-her-cry-oh-I-am-so-outraged"
talking points.
Almost as if they had rehearsed their 'outrage' far in advance of the
incident they were OUTRAGED about.

She clearly mouthed the word "yes"
just before she summoned up those fake tears...

And some of us have been misinterpreting her reason for doing so.

She wasn't AGREEING with anything being said, when she silently mouthed "yes".
She was just replying to the person who gave her the signal to start crying!"

Doubt me? Look at the tapes.
Take a day off, and scan them frame by frame.
Look at the FIRST day of the hearings, and keep a log of the minutes SHE appears
on camera.
And LOG where her eyes are pointed at any given moment...

THEN, compare the next day: she exibits the same behaviour all morning, until they take a break.

AFTER the break, we see a difference.
Her head moves less, she makes fewer of the odd Zanax smiles...
but her EYES start looking in a different direction.

And they keep going that way alot,
while she deliberately does NOT move her head in that direction...

Until the VERY LAST time,
when she HOLDS the focus briefly, and she silently says 'YES'
to whoever she has been VERY POINTEDLY "not" looking at...,

And THENshe looks DIRECTLY at the nearest camera
and starts her crocodile tears.

"I'm ready for my Close-Up, Mister DeLay!"

8. Actually it does...
because they couldnt control what the Dem would be saying. For example most of the so called "attacks" were very mild, UNTIL they were re-worded and made harsher sounding by the Repubs.

Better to have her cry at the list of "unfounded accusations" being read by a Repub. That way they can control the spin better.

5. Looks like you are having fun.
I was particularly drawn to her expressions indicating her obvious dislike of and total disrespect for Sen. Kennedy. I have no doubt she and her "moue" are a direct result of many hours of conversations about the evils of liberalism and Ted.
The politicization of judicial selection and the hatred of all things progressive are so much a part of the r/w agenda that the the hypocrisy of their denials is simply astounding in its transparency! The disrespect for alternative points of view and the dehumanization of those who hold those views is patently obvious, as well.
Those oafs think we are too stupid to understand them and their biased thinking.
This could be a very useful tool, if taken advantage of.

and some of you are going to sit here arguing over a sideshow at worst or an overwrought wife at best. Who effin' cares? Believe me, this is not the issue. The Senate is on the virge of sending to the floor for vote a nomination of a man that is dishonest, possibly a racist, mysogonist, and a tool of the coporations and *. How about a little focus? On the issues maybe? If that was staged, ya'll fell for it hook, line, and sinker because they knew you would spin you wheels over there while the pull off the big one over there.

I am MUCH more cynical than most DUers,
I consider that current events are spiraling downward toward
a foregone conclusion, which I began to prepare for YEARS ago.

But there can be no true faith without works;
so I fully intend to keep filling sandbags until

31. I think damn near the whole thing was staged.
Whenever any Liberal or Progressive sees a child crying and especially if that child is crying because a fellow acted despicably... I know most of us would be all over the guy who did it. That is the common way it works in this kinds of protest crowd scenes, almost without fail. Guys like that severely damage causes and thats why the reichwing employs them... and thats why there is always a bunch of us looking for such operatives. The man disupting and the faux victims would have most likely been asked to leave or pointed out as bad guys and shunned. Telling the police does nothing most of the time (except for in Camp Casey which was just a whole different scene altogether).

32. The ultimate backdrop: cry on cue wife. Oh it's Rovian all right, not his
best. As above poster said: Parlockian. Without the b-team cheerleading squad (AKA the corporate media) it would've gotten eyerolls.

Actually, eyerolls is probably the majority result even with the cheerleaders.
I am very pleased that they think they needed this sleazy tactic.
Bodes well for our side.

16. From Newshounds: Did Samuel Alito's Wife Cry on Cue?
George Schlatter, the creator of the '70s television show, Laugh-In, was a guest on Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (January 12, 2006). Schlatter appeared in a segment that concluded an hour-long Democrat bash -- "Will Vicious Dems Pay for Driving Alito's Wife to Tears?" -- about Democrats supposedly "driving Alito's wife," Martha, "to tears" during yesterday's confirmation hearings. During his "discussion" with Cavuto, Schlatter asked Cavuto if he noticed that, "about 15 minutes before she started to cry, an aide came in and moved him slightly to the right because he was covering her, and ten minutes later she started to cry. So, fortunately, he'd moved enough so we could see it."

Comment: Hummm. Makes you wonder. Lindsey Graham coached Alito before the hearings and he was speaking when Martha began to cry. Could moving the chair have been the signal for Martha to start crying when Graham began to speak?

Conservatives seized on the incident to complain about Democratic "bullying," and said they plan to make the incident a cause celebre. "When will the media shame these people for their behavior?" Sean Rushton, executive director of the administration-friendly Committee for Justice, asked in a blast e-mail to journalists. The always-alert Creative Response Concepts, a conservative public relations firm, sent this bulletin: "Former Alito clerk Gary Rubman witnessed Mrs. Alito leaving her husband's confirmation in tears and is available for interviews, along with other former Alito clerks who know her personally and are very upset about this development."

I am some kind of pissed about this. I agree with the OP 100%. This was a set up, and Lindsey Graham, a former trial lawyer, set it up.

Cry for all the people the sorry, no good bastard has screwed with his rightwing politics the past 30 years!

I think they pumped her full of barbituates, which tend to make crying easy. I am disgusted that she's there and that her mental state is even talked about by media.

Hell, even the cameras were ready for her "close up."

29. When Thomas would have been sunk
naturally by improper sexual conduct- as had happened to a Nixon choice once before, they outed the issue in such a way as to incredibly spin it against Dems. While the Repukes were spilling the sordid details the cameras played on Kennedy(Chappaquidick Kennedy) to make HIM the villain. Martyr Thomas like Bill O'Reilly is with us still.

Again it might be instructive for the confused masses to have a list of times this tactic has been successfully used. If NOT a conscious tactic it is still amazing to behold how vice and crime rewards the perp and punishes the critic in GOP world. But in fact something this daring has to be planned or else believe the hypocritical GOP is completely insane- or both. I can live with both being the case.

Sometimes it is best seen on a local level in a more routine application. Randy Kuhl, our esteemed GOP Rep. won his seat a lot more easily simply by having a Hillary protege get caught in an embarrassing way "outing" a scandalous divorce incident. Of course the campaign people fell all over themselves and the struggle was uphill anyway, but all the playacting- even by Dems who trade favors with Kuhl- was nauseous
and obvious. Matryr Kuhl. Bad bad Samara. The popular reaction working for the GOP being- "look what those mean people have done to this poor guy, those dirty politicians- and making his family suffer too!" In fact this trap was set for strong primary challenger to Kuhl who balked at the bait and went meekly to defeat right after going after the same evidence left lying conveniently open to scrutiny. A naive campaign op for Samara Barend took it to the greener campaign manager and the "incident" blew up faster than the Raw Story account of Kuhl's gun waving bout. It was like flipping a switch on a light that turned out to be a smoking buzz saw.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone. Hah, made you throw a stone and hurt this poor poor victim, you evil sinner. Sometimes they drag themselves out to the square just to get the drama co-opted.

37. My own theory is that when they were taping the moot sessions
they realized that her maniacal laughter and haughty demeanor while she knitted the names of Dem questioners was not getting the sympathetic reaction they would have hoped for. When she inadvertently sat on a pincushion and began crying and they saw it in the monitor, they jumped up and said "Eureka!"

It is, sadly, a one trick pony that probably cannot be utilized again. The next nominee will have to bring in a hound dog that bays on cue.

Why are Swift Boaters -- the folks who smeared John Kerry's war record in the 2004 election -- now trying to promote Alito's nomination by capitalizing on yesterday's bizarre incident?

We're referring to this release sent out yesterday by Creative Response Concepts, an Alexandria, Va., based PR firm with deep blood lines on the far right:
