Has the Bush leadership reached questionable levels yet? |
|
Bush apparently has judged that he, as president, and his close advisers can decide which laws they wish to obey and when, while simultaneously condemning those outside their circle of power for violating the same laws.
As was reported in the the New York Times reported on Dec. 16 and Bush confirmed the next day, he also is claiming – as his constitutional right – the power to wiretap Americans without court review or the presentation of evidence to any impartial body.
When Bush is challenged on these authorities, he asserts that he is following the law, although it is never clear which law or whether anyone other than his appointed lawyers have advised him on the scope of his power.
Considering Clinton's infamous lie about a BJ. warranted impeachment, hasn't George W. Bush lied about the leadup to an illegal war impeachable offenses?
Yes/No/Maybe?

but it only works if one (or preferably both) houses of Congress are inclined to do anything about it.
Since they're Republican controlled, it's been avoid up until now.
Although it's starting to smell like it's getting there...
And if we pick up one (or preferably both) houses in 2006, then we can go for it.

I think it is a good sign when even repuke senators like Santorum say that the whole thing will be investigated. If they were really sure of themselves (and the 2006 election) they would blow it all off, calling us traitors for even suggesting that the Constitution is more important than his imperial bushtacy.

The criminals in the white house would have to vastly improve their leadership to rise up to merely questionable levels.

4. No question about it. His regime has been questionable from the start. |
|
When it comes out, loud and clear, that he was spying on political opponents and peaceful American groups that oppose his policies - dissenters, when it comes out that he tapped calls/emails from one American, in America, to another American, in America, and had telecom corps. route the calls thru a foreign country to enable some bs defense of his actions - when that comes out loud and clear, I think that will be it. He'll either bow to the laws of this nation, including impeachment, the laws he smirkingly swore to uphold, or we will be an occupied nation.
Of cousre, I'm putting faith in the majority of the American people to express outrage, and the will of those who represent us to act accordingly. I have to believe at some point, almost all of his apologists and defenders will choose the preservation of our democracy over a would-be dictator.
