Some final thoughts on "The Book of Daniel"
I say final here, because the NBC affiliate in my town has joined six others through out the country in pulling the show from its Friday Night schedule.

Two things make this decision interesting. First, the show is a limited run series and would have been finished in February anyway.

Second, back in my day, a network or TV station would put a show on the air, and people would either watch it and it would be become a hit (M*A*S*H*, Hogan's Heroes) and not watch it and it would go the way of "Manimal" or "Camp Runamok."

My wife said apparently not many supporters of the show called the station to express their desire to see the show on the air.

I admit I didn't call.

It never occurred to me to deny people the choice of whether or not to watch it.

My bad.

1. Personally I could care less
The idiot box is only used for c span, pbs and sporting events here. It remains off most of the time ot muted. I rarely watch any of the so called entertainment on tv. So I am uninformed on the controversy over this show except what I have read & heard second hand.

17. I dont watch it
But my wife watces it from time to time, The point I was making is that scene was unnessessary because the story line was already on that track. So what does one tell a 5 year old about a scene like that. But thats my personal view and Im surprised ABC of all networks went with that line. Its class B acting at its worse.

16. Terrible cause someone cheated a spouse? Some older woman had
sex with a high school boy? Someone killed someone else?

Or just terrible cause a couple of boys kissed?

2. You know what's going to be sadly comical about all this?
In two years, the Religious Reich are going to claim that "Book of Daniel" was a RELIGIOUS TV show which was removed by the LIBERALS!

7. I liked it very much....
and asked a coworker ("Christian" and repug) if she'd seen it. She said she hadn't, and didn't intend to and that a gay priest is just too much.

I said the priest isn't gay, his son is. I said I liked it because it showed actual humans who had God and Jesus in their lives. She said it would just upset her too much, so she would not be watching.

I said that when something causes this much controversy, I like to watch and make my own decision, not base mine on what someone else tells me to think.

She didn't like that comment. Hopefully, some of my comments will make her think, but I doubt it. :(

12. she probably watched it
'Queer Folk' used to "upset" me because those sex scenes were way out of my sphere of experience.
But, they evidently resonate with many. So. I have a remote. Change channels. Never ocurred to me to restrict someone else's veiwing. I watch very little tv. Sometimes I wouldn't even bother to go watch 'Sex in the City'. There is internet :D

13. And that's the one thing that makes the ones in charge so dangerous...
... denial of choice is their primary tool to get and keep power.

14. Since all the Christian Right Winger Nuts.....
....went off their rockers complaining about it - I felt I just had to watch it. While I've seen better and more entertaining shows - I couldn't detect blasphemy or any of the crap the so called 'Christians'
were claiming. What I saw was a family, where the Father happened to be a Minister, with every day, common place and human problems - Teenagers who acted like Teenagers instead of some 'Saints in Training'. All I saw was a family in a half-assed real environment who is trying to bring everyday Life into perspective with their Faith. Or maybe bring their Faith into perspective with everyday Life.

18. I emailed my local affiliate
and told them, thank you, for assuming I have no brain.
I told them I was done with their station.
I'm sure they are crying right now.
