LISTEN: 6/1 11am PT Thom Hartmann Interviews DUer GuvWurld
I know this is a whole week away but if you were just booked on a nationally syndicated radio show airing on more than 80 stations, plus Sirius satellite, plus the web, you might be a wee bit excited too.

On June 1 at 11am PT, I will be on the Thom Hartmann radio show talking about my new book, We Do Not Consent (.pdf). For those who don't know me or what I write about, here is the bio I sent Thom along with my book.

Dave Berman is the author of the new book, We Do Not Consent, comprised of 20 essential essays from his GuvWurld Blog with a Foreword by attorney Paul Lehto (DUer Land Shark). GuvWurld's most notable achievement is the development of the Voter Confidence Resolution (VCR). In July 2005, the City Council of Arcata, CA became the first to adopt the VCR, which states there is no basis for confidence in U.S. federal election results. The VCR also describes election conditions which do not seek the Consent of the Governed, challenging the assumption that such Consent exists. A stand alone white paper, and the final chapter in Berman's new book, Blueprint For Peaceful Revolution spells out how the VCR is envisioned as a catalyst for large scale social change. As a founding member of the Voter Confidence Committee of Humboldt County, CA, Berman has become a regular figure in local news, also attracting attention from such places as the Lone Star Iconoclast in Crawford, TX and Scoop, based in New Zealand. Berman makes his community organizing the focus of his blogging, which he calls advocacy journalism. The success of this writing style is defined only by the real world change it helps to produce. We Do Not Consent is online as a free .pdf download. Hard copies are available for media review. Berman is available for interviews.

2. KR....what was it Jimmy Carter said about US elections?
they don't even come up to the standard of MEASUREMENT, or whatever his worldwide election sanctioning body does?

here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A52800-2004Sep26.html

The Carter Center has monitored more than 50 elections, all of them held under contentious, troubled or dangerous conditions. When I describe these activities, either in the United States or in foreign forums, the almost inevitable questions are: "Why don't you observe the election in Florida?" and "How do you explain the serious problems with elections there?"

The answer to the first question is that we can monitor only about five elections each year, and meeting crucial needs in other nations is our top priority. (Our most recent ones were in Venezuela and Indonesia, and the next will be in Mozambique.) A partial answer to the other question is that some basic international requirements for a fair election are missing in Florida.

The most significant of these requirements are:

• A nonpartisan electoral commission or a trusted and nonpartisan official who will be responsible for organizing and conducting the electoral process before, during and after the actual voting takes place. Although rarely perfect in their objectivity, such top administrators are at least subject to public scrutiny and responsible for the integrity of their decisions. Florida voting officials have proved to be highly partisan, brazenly violating a basic need for an unbiased and universally trusted authority to manage all elements of the electoral process.

• Uniformity in voting procedures, so that all citizens, regardless of their social or financial status, have equal assurance that their votes are cast in the same way and will be tabulated with equal accuracy. Modern technology is already in use that makes electronic voting possible, with accurate and almost immediate tabulation and with paper ballot printouts so all voters can have confidence in the integrity of the process. There is no reason these proven techniques, used overseas and in some U.S. states, could not be used in Florida.

It was obvious that in 2000 these basic standards were not met in Florida, and there are disturbing signs that once again, as we prepare for a presidential election, some of the state's leading officials hold strong political biases that prevent necessary reforms.....

couldn't even MONITOR, things were/are so bad

can you say banana republic?

5. When they wouldn't allow International monitors in 2004
It made a very loud and clear statement to me.

7. Withdrawing Consent
We have not really been having elections in recent years; they've only been events that resemble elections. These "elections" are invalid on their face, except for the fact that We The People go along with our lives accepting that power and authority have been bestowed upon occupants of ill-begotten offices. See, they have our Consent, if only be default. We have to actually choose now to withdraw the Consent of the Governed. This is what the Voter Confidence Resolution is about and it is why the book We Do Not Consent (.pdf) is a free download.

8. Thanks everybody above. If you want to help spread the word...
please hit me with suggestions for other media to contact, especially if you have connections and can facilitate introductions. Some generous donors covered the cost of printing a small number of hard cover books for the purpose of having them sent to progressive media, like Thom, who might actually bring me on the air.

11. Guv, this is great news.

I've heard you on the air before and you have a great voice, temperment, and command of the issues.

This will be a real treat for the listeners, and the election reform movement.

13. ...For the election reform movement
Edited on Wed May-24-06 08:57 PM by GuvWurld
When I was invited on the show I got an e-mail asking for a few bits of basic info, including talking points. This is what I submitted:

There is no basis for confidence in the results reported from elections in America today.

Election reform is not an end goal, but a tactic toward peaceful revolution.

Peaceful revolution is necessary, NOW!

Hey election reform movement: time for a paradigm change. Peaceful revolution is the elephant in the middle of the room. Let's deal with it.

And of course, thanks for the props, Wilms. :yourock:
