Partisan Attack Dogs
So I saw a piece on Countdown tonight about a piece called Bush Betrays Base by Richard Viguerie. Another among the increasing numbers of "Not a Real Conservative" rumblings. Someone very close to the President (and presumably close to Rove, judging from the stench) then sent out a quick smear email. "But he said the same things about Reagan, and we all know Reagan was a god among men!" (or words to that effect).

But what Viguerie said in response to the response was great, something along the lines of "The white house has done what it has always done, immediately attack the critic," (which is more acurate paraphrasing than I did before).

But it's not like we didn't know that's what they do. I've watched this shit for the past 6 years, I know their MO. But still, the way that conservative guy on Olbermann put it just seemed to really drive it home.

And the fact is, all these guys know how to do is attack their critics, a group which happens to have a disproportionate number of democrats (for now). Attack Joe Wilson at any cost, even national security. Attack the reporters who ask too many questions. Attack the military record of any decorated opponent. Attack the sciencetific method, because it can provide proof. Turn a blind eye as your own party in congress flails in a whirlpool of corruption, but find one corrupt democrat and not only attack, but attack in a big way. A big grab-for-ever-more-executive-power kind of way.

Partisan attack dogs is all they are. Attacking their political enemies is the only thing they excel at. They're not even good at attacking their real enemies. Just their critics.

And incidentally, that one corrupt democrat? The rest of the party has already denounced him. You see, we still hold the law above party loyalty.

1. Your right! It doesn't matter who they smear,
including decorated combat vets, retired generals, gold-star mothers, college professors, ex-cia officials, nobel prize winners, not to mention the millions of honest, red-bloodied Americans.

2. Thanks for the reminder!
"Partisan attack dogs is all they are. Attacking their political enemies is the only thing they excel at."

I needed to hear this, helps me to keep focus.;)
