NPR on "An Inconvenient Truth"
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5428154

Bob Mondello, NPR film critic, and Richard Harris, NPR science correspondent, talk to Michele Norris about their evaluation of the art and science of An Inconvenient Truth.

Film critic Mondello says he was "skeptical" before seeing the movie. Instead, he discovered an "elaborate, gorgeous" movie filled with impressive digital effects. He also found that the Al Gore of the film is a "different" Al Gore than the public is accustomed to hearing: pensive, funny and thoughtful about an issue that he calls a "planetary emergency."

Y2K revisited
I think one of the things that Rousseau said long ago was that democracy can be either an elected one or one that is done by lots. This is how we get juries still. I wonder if we could narrow down the field to a dozen or so candidates and then have a lottery to see who gets the job. I doubt we could do any worse than what we have now and we could probably do a lot better.

It does look to me that the Florida election in 2000 was more or less a crap shoot as to how a chad got counted or not.

9. Heh
A draft is a form of lottery. All I was saying is that we might be better off choosing people that might not necessarily want the job.

I'm pretty sure a trained monkey could do a better job than what we have now. :+

4. Gore '08, The world can't wait!
I'd give anything if the democratic party would just decide on Gore by acclamation and forgo a bruising primary season -- he is the leader the world desperately needs at this point in history -- and furthermore, he deserves to have his presidency restored.

6. I've got to see if it's playing anywhere in the Tampa Bay area.

Gotta see it.

On edit: I just did a Google on "An Inconvenient Truth", and it lists everywhere it will be playing. I've got June 19 in South Tampa.
