Please sign petition to save 18 yo Nazanin. Iran will excute her...

for defending herself and her niece from rape, by killing her attacker when she was 17 years old. Please read her story and sign the petition. Please email to as many people as you can. The more pressure we put on the Iranian government, the more carefully they will consider their next move here... Yes, you too can do something today to save her life...!

Please read her story and sign the petition and pass on... Thank you very much for your help!

1. No win situation
if she'd been raped, she'd still be executed for not being a virgin.

4. Not exactly...

If you're married, and you "allow" yourself to be raped, you most likely would receive a short prison term and up to 100 lashes... Rape is very hard to prove as you need four male witnesses to caro borate your story... Mostly though, women aren't executed for being raped but are severely punished.

In the past, Iran has backed off this kind of sentence when International outrage reached a fever pitch...

We can make a difference if we try and what have we got to lose?... It's happened before and can happen once again!

9. Yup, they too have now picked up the case...

... Interesting to see what happens now... In the past, there have been both success and failure in saving kids with this kind of fate. Hopefully given the current climate, Iran will think long and hard before executing this young, innocent girl.

Who will care if we don't?

10. Yes, but they are claiming this based on a report done by one newspaper,

E’temaad. According to an article I just read, no one has been able to contact her lawyer, family, etc.

Oddly enough, the person who has spearheaded this petition is an Iranian born Canadian beauty queen named Nazanin.

The problem I have with this that it reminds me of Iraqis dumping babies out of incubators in Kuwait.

http://www.sundayobserver.lk/2006/04/09/wor01.html

Snip.........

Amnesty International and human rights workers in the case said they have been unable to contact her family or lawyers, and do not know if legal appeals are scheduled.

12. Oh no... This is no lie... This is happening all the time...

... Do a little research into past death sentences for child-crimes in Irna... More than 20 children have been put to death since 1990 in Iran, even though they agreed to stop this kind of thing...

This is a very real problem, nothing like the "babies-thrown-out-of-incubators" stories...

We can choose to ignore it and assume it's propaganda, or we can try to help... I don't see what we have to lose here...

14. Our death penalties do not exclude children either. Did you know that?

BTW.. I am against all death penalties. State sanctioned murder is murder.

16. A death penalty is a death penalty boy or girl. As to this, once again,
I'm going to try to do some more research on this later. It really bothers me that is being taken as the truth by Amnesty because of one newspaper and it bothers me that Amnesty has not been able to contact anyone on her side.

19. For the sake of fairness, even to a government..

... that in my opinion has a bad track record of fairness to women, I too will further research this and get back later... I always want to know the full story, especially if questions of authenticity are raised...

Talk later... Thanks...

11. Sorry, here's a link to the official site,

... run by Nazanin Afshin-Jam, Ms. World Canada...

http://www.hrmrecords.com/nazanin/index-main.htm

I believe at last update on May 23rd, the case was being sent up to Tehran for final review... Iran does not disclose exact dates for this kind of thing so we can only assume it can come down any week now... With more pressure, it is thought Iran will think long and hard about this and not rush into anything... We can help, I believe...

I must have faith, it's the only thing I can do to help this girl... It has happened before where Iran let out a condemned to death young girl, due to International pressure. These are different times though, the pressure would have to come from somewhere other than the US I guess...

23. Yes, I am well aware...

... of the tragedy in Darfur but I can only do one thing at a time... The torture and imprisonment of millions of women in the Middle East has to be addressed by someone as well... At this moment, this has my attention, hopefully next week, I'll turn my attention to Darfur. Right now, I leave it up to you my brother, to get the word out. Thanks...
