Blast Tyrant, especially for the political minded - it's guaranteed to rock your ass off. (and make you think)

I'm an old schooler - love Simon/Dylan and Young but Clutch will give you faith that all newer music (shit they've been around since 94) isn't crap.

9. I'd been listening to the sound files at ubu.com.

There is a section on "sound poetry," but if you let the word "poetry" turn you off you'll be missing some of the most remarkable sounds you have ever heard, many made without the human voice. Artists of sound. Rarely a beat or song. They have the old dada poets like Hugo Ball, up to Henri Chopin and Jorge Piringer. (You don't need to know French or German, because much of their work of manipulation doesn't even have a voice.

My first poet was Bob Dylan back in 1964, and I love him still, but these experimental sound sculptures are fantastic. I recommend Chopin or Pringer. The late has both non-vocal material was well as pieces ("teils") made from capturing and remixing &c German commercials. (You don't have to know the language even here to get the joke on vacuous front rampant capitalism shows the world while stuffing its maw.)
