Chilling report on federal judges |
|
As appalled as I was by the Supreme Court decision installing Bush as president, I still retained some hope that the judiciary could provide the checks and balances essential to our our constitutional system. This article about judges accepting free trips terrifies me. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/24/AR2006052402466.html

1. Scalia scared the crap out of me. |

He thinks that cronyism is an acceptable system and he was shocked, SHOCKED that anyone would question his hunting trip with Cheney. It's as if becoming a Supreme Court Judge gives him a higher level of carte blanche. So, if other judges are the same, I think we have lots to worry about.

2. This entire administration & their cronies |

believe they are above the law. They are the worst group of criminals to sit in the White House. I fear we may never fully recover from their policies.

The only way to turn this around is to get prosecutorial on their asses. They have to pay for their calculated criminal behavior or else other MBAs will come by and weigh the risks and do the same things in the political arena.

3. I guess I see things a lot different than you guys. |

These people don't believe they are the same as us. They feel they are an elite which is indeed above the law and that is why they behave the way they do. The majority of the time their station and wealth does indeed remove any bump in the road, be it legal or governmental. They regard people such as us as the Rabble, a true underclass, less deserving due to lack of initiative, intelligence, etc.
They feel entitled and indeed they are. Having lived in both worlds, I swear to you this is true. In one, a phone call can make a legal problem go away, in the other that problem can get you five years probation. You tell me.
